Steer clear of this one!
Their motto printed clearly on the door, menus, and walls says "It's all about Freshness, Taste & Quality". However, this restaurant is very far away from any of these things.
The prices here are quite high even if the food was good. If you want great quality fish, try Sopporo instead. Your average AYCE place has far better fish than this place.
The wait staff here was quite obnoxious. There were two teenage kids that have clearly never been to an actual restaurant before. One of them didn't even know what the tuna nigiri was.
We ordered quite a few things. Most of them were inedible.
Screaming O - This was brought to the table in a lake of some god awful sauce. It had mayo all over the top and looked like a bowl of vomit. The seared tuna was very cold, flaky, and flavorless as if it was seared a week ago and kept in the refrigerator.
Spicy Salmon Sashimi - They brought this 'Appetizer' out very last. This ended up being fine since the salmon was completely tasteless. The 'spicy sauce' was horrible, there is no way it should have been anywhere near salmon (even if the salmon was good).
Nabeyaki Udon - Hands down the worst noodles I have ever had. This was completely inedible. The 'broth' was just water (not even salted water). It was 'steaming' but wasn't hot somehow. The noodles were extremely overcooked and flavorless. The shrimp tempura was extremely bland and old. The chicken was dry, overcooked, and rubbery. Instant udon is far better than this!
Vegi Yakisoba - This was the furthest thing from 'fried' as possible. These noodles were mushy as if they were boiled previously then reheated in a microwave. The seasoning here was way more Indian than Japanese, definitely not like any yakisoba noodle's I've ever encountered before. This was also completely inedible.
Tuna & Salmon Nigiri - Massive slices of fish. The tuna was almost half an inch thick and completely flavorless. The salmon was almost as thick as the tuna, however it had shallow slits cut in the top and a lemon slice on top of each piece. The salmon was flavorless save for what little lemon juice happened to be on it from the lemon slice. These massive slices of flavorless fish are far to big for one piece of nigiri. Maybe they are trying to justify their $5.50 price tag for 2 pieces, but honestly 5 pieces with the same amount of fish would have been better than 2 pieces with a steak on top of each. In terms of value, Sapporo serves great quality 2 piece nigiri for $2.50, $5.50 for 2 pieces of awful is a joke.
Tuna & Salmon Cut Rolls - Basic Maki should be simple right? Wrong, aside from the flavorless fish, the diameter of the pieces was about double what a Maki should be. There was a half inch slab of fish in the center surrounded by another half inch of rice. The rolls were cut into slices of random sizes, no consistency at all. Due to the amount of rice here and the soy sauce, this was one of the only edible things we were served.
Spicy Yellow-tail & Spicy Salmon Cut Rolls - Much like the Tuna & Salmon rolls, the pieces were all various sizes. The cucumbers were rubbery and like all the other fish, this fish was flavorless. The spicy sauce didn't have a very appealing taste and clashed...
Read moreIts ridiculous that I have to write a review about a $8 Kid's Bento box. I've eaten here a few times, $40 or so per meal, and tonight I ordered $79.85 worth of Sushi tonight (to go) and got home to find they gave us the wrong Kids Bento Box. As a parent, you know what your kids will and won't eat and since we just got back from Thanksgiving vacation, the normal staples (bread, lunch meat, etc) were gone, thus we ordered take-out. So, I get home, my son's food is wrong and as most young kids go, he doesn't want to eat the wrong order. It is what it is. Not the end of the world. I called The Sushi to let them know about the mistake and the phone rang busy for more than 30 minutes. Dinner is over at this point and we fed him an alternative meal. Someone finally answers, I explain the issue, and I tell them I'd prefer a refund of his incorrect order. I'm told I can have a "store credit." I don't want a store credit. I want a refund of the $8 meal they got wrong. I'm told by the young lady I need to drive back to the restaurant, with the wrong food, to receive a refund. Say what? I told the young lady that simply wasn't reasonable and it wasn't happening. I asked for a manager. Now this easy $8 lay-up for Customer Satisfaction has taken a wrong turn. She places me on a brief hold, comes back almost immediately, and I'm expecting a quick "yes, no problem, we'll refund the $8, so sorry for the trouble, have a great night." Right? No. She says she will try to get the manager to give me a call back. Something about having to talk to the "owner" for an $8 refund. Yikes. Clearly, if someone can't make an executive decision on an $8 mistake something is amiss. The rest of the food was great. Really, very good food. And I'm not a "customer is always right" kind of person. Some customers are just rude-holes. In this case, I was polite, I was clear with my expectations of an $8 refund (out of a $80 meal) and they simply didn't deliver. A no-brainer turns into a 1 star review (on principle) and lost business. I'm sure this won't impact their world, the regulars will continue unabated, but this was an easy...
Read moreI took my son here who has an affinity for Tempura Udon. I, I love most all sushi, sashimi of any type and style. Exceptions be tilapia, mackerel. Tuna I can take it or leave it unless it is a great quality. I'm easy to please with the selection but picky on the taste, texture and temperature of the servings. I am saying this because I love sushi, but I really do demand quality. With that said, I ordered my son his Tempur Udon and it was delicious. The shrimp, they were a little on the s.all side for typical tempura shrimp. That was a bummer. The taste of the broth, however, was excellent. I really do mean great, it's soup, but it was delicious. The noodles were very flavorful as well with a great bite to them. If they upped the ante a bit with the tempura, I would say it was the best Udon we have ever had. Now, onto my meal. Rolly Poke bowl. Man, delicious. The tuna, which was fantastically seasoned/marinaded was perfectly sized bites of goodness. Now, the fish was great, and I would have it a 100 more times again. With that said, I've never had a serving of rice like what they served with their poke bowl. It was seasoned so wonderfully with bits of sesame seeds and furikake that I would have been not just content, but delighted to make an entire meal just out of the rice. Oh man, I am going back just for the rice some time. The food was excellent, I hope their other dishes follow suit. The service, ya it was a bit slow. For the delight of the dishes served though, ill deal with it. The picture was from a video that did not intend to have the food in it. I forgot to take a pic...
