I recently dined at Charcoal Kabab and had a generally good experience. The food was overall good, with some items standing out more than others. The beef chapli was particularly amazing, while the chicken chapli didn't quite meet the same standard. What truly set this place apart was the exceptional service. The owner is incredibly gentle and a pleasure to talk to. He went out of his way to accommodate my desire to try a few different items, allowing me to choose separately. There was a small mix-up with one of our orders, but it didn’t bother us. The owner, however, insisted on making it right by providing us with both the item we ordered and the item we didn’t order. Additionally, he generously offered us free sides to make up for the mistake. His attentiveness throughout our meal was impressive and greatly appreciated. While the food had its highs and lows, the exceptional service and the owner's kindness made our visit a positive experience. I would recommend Charcoal Kabab for its excellent customer service and the standout beef chapli.

Love this place. This Is my go to Kabob place. Hands down my favorite and I've tried several of them. If I am anywhere in the area I will make a pit stop and grab some food. I've been coming here for over 19 years and I am glad to see there success grow in that time. When other kabob restaurants close after years of service these guys have been expanding and taking up space. Just goes to show you awesome tasting food does pay off. They have expanded and taken over the next two retail spaces next to them to expand seating and to create a private party seating area. The three brothers are so nice and friendly as well as the staff. My go two menu choice is the chicken and ground steak kabobs combo with chana ( chickpea indian side dish). This place is always packed and there is a wait to get your food but it's worth the wait. I will definitely be back and continue to enjoy their wonderful food.

We had a wonderful experience with the great food and a warm greeting from one of the owners and the staff. The food was very flavorful! Full of great tastes, a variety of textures and explosions of spices (even mild enough for my palate). Everything was fresh, the meat was tender and melted in your mouth with each bite. The bread was warm, right out of the oven and was a treat to enjoy... The mango lassie were rich and creamy. The deserts were sweet and yummy, down to the last drop. We like it so much, we even carried out for lunch at home the next day. 30 years at this location, they are doing it correct and worth the 30 min. Ride. We will be back soon to explore more of the menu and enjoy the hospitality. P.S. They also do quite a carry-out business. Fast and friendly.

Top Kabob spot in the area - hands down the busiest, most compared to kabob spots.

Food is always perfect, I can't think of one time I was unhappy with my food. They always cook everything perfectly. The bread is always piping hot, and the portions are more than enough.

Cons - the dreaded wait....you get a number and sit around for 20 minutes wondering if they forgot about you. The lines are long, but its not a bad thing right seems like too many ppl know about this place.

The atmosphere is just okay...decent tables, which are often times not cleaned off in time.

Some times it hard to even find a bloody table and that can tick you off, but that is when the 20 minute wait helps I guess.

Stars:

Food - Above average - hands down delicious, and that is saying a LOT

Service - non existent - slow counters as they are packed, food takes some time to prepare..but again, they prepare fresh each time

Atmosphere - crammed occasionally, not as clean as I'd like

Location - heart of Herndon - great location, I crave this place every time I am on Elden

Family Friendly - Yes/No at the same time. They are friendly and accomodating however, when you have a large group with you and are waiting 20 minutes for a table, it came become a nightmare

bonus points:

Kashmiri tea (pink tea) == awesome Bread - always on point Chickpeas - well cooked, not sure why, but most places can't seem to get them right..this place knows their stuff!

Of all kabob places I visit, this is the baseline I compare them to and again that is...

This place has become a scam based business.

This used to be my family’s favorite spot until our experience yesterday…We had been coming here for years, knew the food well and also knew the prices. As usual we called ahead, ordered our 3 main favorite dishes (kabob, kubedah and chicken) and my mother went to go pick it up 20 minutes later. When she went to pay, she was quoted a price much higher than usual. When she asked the lady why the price seemed so high for the same food we had been getting for years, the lady tried to spin some yarn about how now customers had to pay “DOUBLE TAX” on their food because the business had incurred some higher costs recently.

My mother asked for her receipt to see what this “double tax” bs was and the lady DENIED HER REQUEST FOR A RECEIPT!! My mother had a good rapport with her so she decided not to pursue an argument, quietly paid for her food and brought the food home. Once we dug into it, we realized that the quality had dropped drastically as well. The kubadeh tasted very over spiced and extremely dry. The rest of the meals were just as bad, this is because ALL THEIR MEAT IS OLD. The rest of the meal just got worse and worse from there….I’ll spare the details but I will say we will never eat there again, I would advise the same to anyone reading...
