I am a little wary with no new reviews since 2023. So I looked up reviews on other sites. I decided to give it a try. Anyway, let me give my experience.||To start off, Tripadvisor should update their description posted here. It says|" While you’re here, be sure to check out Ice House Cafe & Oyster Bar, one of the seafood restaurants that can be found in Herndon. "||FYI- the Oyster Bar closed in 2019!!!||Now on to my review.||Building is a bit on the old side but there are renovations going on,.||Check in- was quick and smooth. NO issues. Staff were quite helpful. For example, Breakfast was listed as 7 - 10 a.m. We had to leave at 615 a.m. The front desk told me, (I never asked) why don't I have breakfast. I said it opens at 7. He said he opened it early for the workers to have something. So go ahead! ||There is cold flavored water and coffee in the lobby but I do not know if it is 24 hours.||Nice little lobby. They have a vending machine for drinks.||Breakfast- nook is quite decent in size, and cleanliness. Food is standard breakfast with coffee, juice, eggs, sausage, pastries, and bread. Waffle maker, fruits, cereals, yogurt, chilled hard boiled eggs. Enough to get you started.||Wifi- here I must confess that I forgot to do what I usually do. Do a speed test. All I can say is that my wife connected to the wifi and watched videos without any issues. We were at the first floor close to the lobby. So I don't know if that makes any difference.||Bathroom- average size. Old but clean. Complete set of towels. Two small bars of soap. 1 each small bottle of shampoo and conditioner. Standard stuff. Hot water was hot and potty flushed very well. There was a hairdryer in the bathroom.||There doesn't seem to be a vent in the bathroom. It does get quite steamy||Side note. While checking in, a guest was asking the front desk for toothbrush and toothpaste which the front desk readily gave.||Room-|Beds were quite comfy with 4 pillows. If wife did not say anything, then it must be good. You cannot trust me since I can sleep almost anywhere 😊||AC/heater worked very well. The unit is controlled not on the unit itself but by a separate thermostat. See pictures. The thermostat sets the temperature. So it either runs heat or cold air. It is not an either set to heat or set to cool type.||There is a safe in the room but we did not use it.|Microwave, fridge that worked very well, and a flat screen TV available as well.|Coffee maker- their version. It is NOT a keurig type.||There are lots of outlet at the base of the table lamp and behind it. Behind it are also 2 usb ports that charged my phone pretty fast.||The area around.|Parking is adequate. No issues|Entry to the building is either thru the lobby or side doors opened only by your key card.||If you exit the lobby and turn left, the next building is Elden Plaza. It has a Papa John Pizza, A Greek restaurant and a pho place.|If you turn right, your choices are immense. Within 10 minutes walk, you can reach Herndon Plaza. What ever you literally want, it's there. Escape room? Russian food? Got it. Market? Yes. Pho? Definitely.||A word on GPS. Technically, Comfort Inn is right on Elden street but recessed a bit from Elden. See picture. But routing on my GPS says turn from Elden street, turn into Carlisle drive. You can...
Read moreI’m upset and used GPT to phrase my experience to maintain the tone over sharing my experience with raw language myself..
They wanted my brother to come out of the restroom to get tissues from the counter in the middle of his business in the bathroom, middle of the night . Such an unique experience I tell you all.
Rooms 130 & 131 | Comfort Inn Herndon-Reston, 200 Elden St, VA
Booked two rooms for a short family stay, and honestly, the experience fell far below expectations. Sharing this in the hope that future guests are better informed and management takes note.
Pros: • Rooms were clean and decently maintained. • Parking was generally good. • Night-shift receptionist was friendly the only pleasant part of the stay.
Now, the issues:
Lack of Basic Amenities • No complimentary water bottles not even one despite a $110/night rate. A basic courtesy, missing. • Room was cold despite the AC being off. Likely poor insulation or central control.
Beds Not Family-Friendly • Beds were small not comfortable for one adult and a child. Poor planning for family stays.
Staff & Management • Staff (mostly Indian) post night-shift, everything needed “management permission,” and communication was largely par.. • Day staff were slow, and simple requests became long waits or awkward conversations.
Breakfast Was a Disaster • We were inside the breakfast area with kids under 12, mid-serving, when at exactly 10:00 AM, staff walked in, stopped service, shut off machines, and pulled the coffee away. • No warning, no grace period extremely rude and mechanical. • Guests already seated should’ve been allowed to finish. Zero courtesy for families or toddlers. Rules over hospitality isn’t a good look.
Dirty Common Areas • Hall carpets were dirty and smelled bad. Consistent with many past reviews clearly ignored by management.
Key Card Issues • Cards stopped working multiple times back-and-forth to the front desk was a hassle, especially late at night.
Poor Bathroom Setup • No tissues in the bathroom at check-in. Called for help, was told to “come and take it” while using the restroom! • After insisting, they eventually sent someone, but I had to wait because “no one was at the counter.” • Water pressure? Pathetic. Forget a shower barely usable for even basic hygiene.
Night Noise • Rooms are not soundproof. There’s a nightclub/pub behind the hotel. • Music blasted well into the night loud enough to ruin any chance of restful sleep.
Parking Drama • Though parking overall was okay, the spaces near the building are labeled “Gold Customers Only.” • A strange system that makes full-paying guests feel secondary. You’re already charging over $100 per night why the class divide?
Overall: This hotel might tick boxes on paper (clean rooms, good parking), but the guest experience is lacking in hospitality, common courtesy, and service quality. The rigid, robotic handling of breakfast, poor maintenance, and unaddressed noise issues made our stay uncomfortable.
Would I stay again? Not unless reviews show clear improvements in staff behavior, cleanliness, noise control, and basic guest courtesy.
Rating: (2/5) Clean rooms and parking saved it from being a 1-star. But for the price?...
Read moreThe stay wasn't bad. This property is under renovation. Beds were comfy but the internet was spotty, overall it was a pleasant stay until the following morning when a member of my party became ill shortly after consuming the continental breakfast. This was brought to the desk clerk's attention upon checkout. The clerk wrote down the complaint and everything that was consumed to check the items and I was promised a follow-up from the manager. I found over the following days as I called back the manager was only sporadically in the office. After close to two weeks of attempting to reach said manager, I finally had the pleasure of communicating with him. I began to address the issue, thankfully he was aware of it at which point he began to defend that it couldn't have possibly been the breakfast that caused this. He blamed potential allergies, of which this person doesn't have as I shared. Then the manager pivoted to what must have been something consumed from the night before to which he was met with, the throwing up happened within 10 minutes of ingestion, which most likely indicated food poisoning. The manager then went on with, well, no one else reported being sick so it couldn't be his establishment because they don't cook anything. Pastries are delivered once a week from the bakery, not prepakaged (seriously! Yuck) and the milk is put out daily (which sits out unrefrigerated for multiple hours multiple days a week). He just kept defending and wasn't interested in understanding the experience of his guests, the bottom line he conveyed was it just wasn't his fault. I explained I didn't feel heard and that I would call their parent company to lodge a formal complaint and would also be penning a review based on my experiences. I shared the point of this phone call for me was to find resolution and understanding prior to taking any further action. I asked if he would be open to doing anything to compensate for this experience to which he asked for the room number and last name on the reservation. I gave the information and waited. Once he checked the stay, he commented that this was a privileges night and that I didn't spend any money with his hotel so he was willing to give maybe 1000 points to my account and that sounded like a stretch for him. I thanked him for his time and shared, this was certainly not the experience I hoped for when speaking to a manager. I thanked him for taking my call and hung up.
My overall takeaway from this hotel is simple, the hotel was pretty clean, comfy beds with welcoming and helpful staff that was attentive to guest needs. I strongly recommend against the breakfast and fingers crossed you don't have a complaint or issue that involves the manager. I personally won't be back to this property due to my experiences however I don't recommend against it, just more a...
