Read moreWorst experience for South Indian food in Virginia. Most reviews seems to be bought/paid. We ordered onion raha masala dosa , tea , coffee bada Sambar. See the details:-
Pros:-
Prices seems to be lower than most places. But is that really pro if your time and experience is at stake?
Cons:-
The waiter dropped Sambar on me while serving me and dropped food on table and then picked up from table and put it back on my plate. Surely, speaks a safety/ hygiene standards that they practice.
The food came cold. Sambar is sweet and dosa masala is bland without any flavor.
When we asked owner/manager to serve us hot Sambar , he mentioned that they follow Virginia state regulations and can’t serve it hot. Mind you this is when we literally saw other customers being served smoking hot food. We got a feeling that the management /Owner do not like customer base other than the ones from south-Indian descent. Mind you we are a regular visitors at woodlands, Sarvana palace, and dosa grill. So we know that food could be served hot.
We were made to sit at a table on a secluded corner with no lights where other tables were empty. When we requested to be moved over to other tables, our request was rudely denied as those tables were apparently reserved but no one came to those tables for next 1.5 hours while we were there.
We waited 30 minutes for our bill to be brought to our table but no one ever showed up. While other customers had checks brought to their table . We were not given that privilege. We finally went to register to pay. And there was NO Apology made or even a consideration for leaving us hanging. We paid our bill and left.
The manager told us that he would provide us some condiments as found their food flavor-less. They never served us additional condiments. And when reminded the waiter brought siracha to our table.
Not a professionally managed place. While the service was slow, unpromising, callous -when they were NOT even busy - the whole family (seems like a family run business) was busy gossiping at the register while we along with other customers were...
Read moreI had to give a 1-star in order to write a review. I'll start off with the service. I've never dined at a restaurant where I've had to repeat my requests multiple times. My family requested silverware & refill of water FOUR times so we could start eating. On top of that we also had to ask for plates to eat on. Additionally, our entrees all came out at different times. Our beverages - lassi, milkshakes & chai were never brought out. We were questioned upon paying our bill if we still wanted our drinks?! A part of our order was also never included. Now, I'll get to the food allergy part.
The chef was nice enough to come out and reassure us of what my son could eat due to food allergies. We ordered a few items for him with the chef. Unfortunately, there was an error somewhere along the lines and noted nuts in one of the "safe" appetizers (veggie pakoda- again reassured this would be okay for him to eat) in which he consumed. How scary! I write this review as we are currently in the emergency room getting him treatment.
To anyone wanting good restaurant style service to dine in, this is not your place to go - especially if you have to ask for something as simple as water 4 times before getting any help. For anyone with food allergies- do not come...
