Chopsticks — Restaurant in Hewitt

So being new in town we’ve been looking for a good American Chinese take away place so I thought we’d give Chopsticks on Hewitt a chance. Boy were we in for a surprise. Consider yourself warned. I thought for sure with all these reviews and a four star rating the food would at least be decent. I wouldn’t even call this Chinese or food..... I’ve lived in three different states, traveled to many cities and countries where I’ve had the chance to to try a spectrum of Chinese American fare, Indian Chinese food, Mexican Chinese food, I’ve had my friends from China cook me authentic Chinese food, I’ve had take away Chinese American food that is amazing/ average/bad.... don’t get me wrong I very much appreciate the American Chinese food category we have in the States..... but this, this “food” was horrid..... the Mongolian beef could not even be identified as beef- a bite into it felt rubbery and gelatinous- I cringe at the thought that I took a second bite,the white rice that came with the beef was one mega clump of mush, the chicken fried rice had no chicken and was not fried it had a yellowed almost food color hue to it, the lomein tasted of spoiled oil and was on the verge of turning in to a mush so I quickly threw in the trash bin, the hot and sour soup was lukewarm and crossed the palate with a bucket of cornstarch- it looked as if murky swamp water were served with a few pieces of bamboo and red peppers were sprinkled in.

I’m sure the people who run the place are lovely but the “food” was so bad that basically everything we ordered is right now sitting in the trash can. I know you can’t please everyone, but this was our experience today and I can’t imagine eating...

I ordered from Chopsticks tonight for the first time. We got shrimp fried rice, orange chicken, and beef lo mein. I put a bit of each onto a paper plate from my house. Halfway through my meal I looked down to grab a forkful of lo mein and there was a dead roach laying in the noodles. I have heard stories of this happening to people and usually not believed them. This roach DID NOT come from my house!! I am a clean freak and have an insane phobia of roaches. I have never seen a single bug other than an occasional fly in my house, not even with the wet weather, and don't even see them on my big patio outside.

I took all the food and my plate back to chopsticks. I showed the lady my plate and demanded a refund. She didn't say a word, didn't seem surprised, just threw my plate in the trash and gave me my money back. She never apologized, never said a single word, just walked back to the take out window. I have a friend who is a cook and said usually if there are bugs in a kitchen they're in the dirty dishes or near the drains but for them to actually be where the food is, IN the food, the problem as to be really bad! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY! Staff very rude! I called in my order for pickup. I went to pickup my order, the lobby was closed, and the drive-thru was around the building. I tried to call to see if they were doing curbside and I was placed on hold for 15 minutes while I waited in the drive-thru line during which time I saw someone go into the lobby. I decided to pop my masked head in to ask about curbside while still on hold on my cell. The moment I opened the door they yelled "Get out!" I understand things have changed, but every restuarant has different rules and protocols. I wasn't sure what their procedures were. I believe they could have been a whole lot friendlier because I wasn't trying to overstep. I tried to ask about my food because I didn't want it to get cold while I waited for those in front of me to order. They said they didn't care I had to wait in the drive-thru. I just left. I thought we were all in this together. I guess they just didn't...
