They have fresh delicious Vietnamese food and friendly service! The owners are awesome and hard working people. They travel far to the major cities to bring authentic Asian ingredients and food to the Waco area. It's such a treat for me to be able to grab Vietnamese food locally and not have to travel far myself. Another thing I like about Sugar and Spice is that the staff is well trained. The food comes out delicious and consistent as if the owners themselves were making it. The menu consists of many yummy options but my personal favorites are their beef pho and pork banh mi sandwiches. They use actual Vietnamese baguettes which are less dense than French bread or rolls from an American grocery store. They also finish the baking process when you order so the sandwich always comes out warm and the right amount of crispiness as a Vietnamese sandwich should. They only make these yummy sandwiches between 11am-4pm by the way. I recently tried their Che Ba Mau (Vietnamese dessert) and it was so good. It had great texture, excellent coconut flavor, and not overly sweet. It literally brought me back to...
Read morePROS: They have the best quantity for buck in town for the pho. There is plenty of noodles and meat for what it's worth (compared to all other pho spots in town). Please don't go greedy and keep it this way. I love that they are super consistent with their pho and drinks. BEST BOBA IN TOWN HANDS DOWN. Tapioca is ALWAYS on point in softness and chewiness. Taste of milk teas are awesome. They brew real tea and it is not just all powder. All other foods are great. Bahnmi's are flavorful (Best in town). The marinated beef rice bowl taste better than waco rolls bowl fyi.
CONS: Broth is just ok. Kind of bland for me but some might prefer this. For some reason, the pho noodles are consistently, slightly overcooked and too soft or soggy for dine-in. And it is worse for pho to-go. The noodles by the time I get home break apart when eating. I live right next to SS. Eggrolls are mid. They are on the small side and have too much carrot or veggie filling and not enough meat in it.
Overall, Few small things to fix but awesome spot for...
Read moreI love Pho, I haven't had it in years hut this restaurant is a "hole in the wall" kind of place and YOU KNOW those have the BEST FOOD, I would suggest the beef pho(I will try the others but this was the first one I tried) and I got some spring rolls. Good food for a good price, my wife and I will be back soon! The basil and bean sprouts that are served with the Pho's are fresh, pungent, crisp and fully customizable. They offer great drinks and good suggestions based on their best sellers, etc. When we went it was quiet so idk if it's loud any other time but it has less than 12 tables in there so I doubt its ever loud which is perfect because who else hates yelling across the table just to chat, am I right? Try it out...I got the cappuccino frap so yeah that will wake you up like a shotgun wedding!
The photos are of my wife getting her black tea passion fruit with lychee and the other picture it to show it has the protective seal on the top so there is no splash back or someone trying to mess...
