Uncle Dan's BBQ & Ribhouse — Restaurant in Hewitt

One star for being open at least but the service stops there. My wife and I took my brother in law here today bc he wanted bbq. I know the location on Valley Mills is great so wanting to impress my brother in law with some good bbq we arrived at this location around 1245(lunchtime). Mind you this restaurant was not busy 1 family at a table and one car at the window. We saw the menu, came to the front of the counter and stood in line for 15 min without a word from staff. We were not hidden, we were at the counter for at least 15 min looking lost. Everyone seemed to be with their head down, for a moment WE FELT INVISIBLE, NOT ONE SINGLE PERSON GREETED US the whole time we were there. Finally the lady cutting meet asked what would I have. I proceeded to place my order while she faced down. No eye contact and I was told to hang on. Not sure she even heard what I said bc she stopped speaking. By this time I was EMBARRASSED to be here knowing I talked this place up so much. After a while a male employee asked is if we were gonna dine in but before we could say anything he walked away. Not sayin anything else and once again we were left standing clueless. At this point the time was 1:10 and we decide to take our business elsewhere. The environment of the establishment is VERY UNWELCOMING to say the least. I'm not sure what to say...maybe they had an off day or just didnt want to be there on Memorial day. However I've never experienced service so terrible. Uncle Dan's in Hewitt really dropped the ball today....

Honestly I should have listened to myself. A ways back we had tried the place for a second time. The first was subpar, but edible. We excused it as our expectations being too high for a new spot. The second time was just not good. Even called the place and told em it was terrible. Well after 2020, I had given hope they improved and I can say they extinguished that Hope like airport foam. They simply have NOT. Yesterday they gave me the worst brisket I have ever eaten from a restaurant. Imagine back to that one time your brother’s friend tried to cook meat and inadvertently created industrial Gray rubber. Voila, you’ve hit it on the head as to the quality of Dam’s food. If I was given a single word to describe the last two visits, I choose AWFUL. Luckily the sides and dessert complimented the brisket and ribs with an equal nob toward the kind of food you get to look forward to in a rural hospital. The desserts must be the frozen garbage. If I could give this Uncle Dan's, zero stars, I would. I ordered $24 worth of food and I should have had a feast. But on the contrary, the portions of the meat were small. I tasted the chicken and it was so tough to chew. See the photo. Honestly, I should have just cooked my own food and not bothered to give my money to a place that jips their customers on the size of the portions. I didn't get any plasticware with my meal and that should be included for the amount I paid. If you risk the chance to go to this restaurant, and you use the drive through, make sure to ask for plasticware, a straw for your drink and sauces to drown out the tough chicken they will serve you.
