We had one of those fundraiser coupon books and found ourselves in Hickory at 11am on a Sunday. We decided to give La Cocinita a try and were very happy we did. Apple Maps said they opened at 11 but we got there at 11 and the parking lot was practically full. Sure enough, the restaurant was at 75% capacity already. THAT IS A GOOD SIGN! I ordered the 3 enchilada plate and my girlfriend ordered steak fajitas. Our waitress, who was great, told us the kitchen staff was short staffed so there might be a slight delay on the food. Their chips and salsa basket is about 1/2 the size of most restaurants but I actually liked that so I wasn't stuffed when the food came. The salsa was great though the chips didn't seem fresh (this is understood since they just opened on a Sunday). Considering the kitchen was short, I could not believe how beautiful the presentation was! This is something most Mexican restaurants don't particularly care about. We both enjoyed our dishes. Great job to whoever was in the back working on 10/8/2023!

Had lunch today at LA Cocinita Mexican Restaurant located on 127 in Hickory. Our food was absolutely delicious! My husband order the menudo soup, I ordered the chicken fajitas and our little girl wanted a cheese quesadilla ans fries. My fajita plate was amazing, so much flavor and the perfect serving size. My husband enjoyed the menudo as it's not something served at most locations. Our food came out very quickly. The only downfall to our trip was once our food was out, the waitress did not come back to refill our drinks. No big deal for us, we will still go back and eat again. The atmosphere was nice and the restaurant was clean. Definitely worth a visit!

A great new Mexican restaurant in town (used to be Que Rico). All the food was great, full of flavor, served hot. Really enjoyed the spices and homemade sauces (red and green) as well as salsa. Salsa could have been a little spicier but overall enjoyable. Chicken and steak were spot on! Tender, juicy, flavored. Compared to the other Mexican restaurants, the serving sizes are smaller - and are slightly more expensive. Staff was very attentive, kind and appreciative to us dining. Dining hall is fairly comfortable with a lot of natural lighting. It would be nice to have small, 2 person tables on the patio...add to the ambiance. Overall, we'll be back.

I really loved this place, but today service sucked. Waited 15 mins to even get ACKNOWLEDGED, no menus, nothing. I asked the waitress for MENUS, she says to give her a second, so fine .. then the phone proceeds to ring, she answers and TAKES THE ORDER. Like no, we were waiting 15 mins for a MENU. Had I known, I would’ve gotten better service over the phone , I would’ve done that. Mind you, there was 2 waitress and 5-6 Tables including my own, everyone else already had their food out. I have never experienced this here, so unacceptable. Even when it’s been busy, we’ve been acknowledged. Not this time, so disappointing. I really really...
