I just moved into town and discovered this place through my parents' recommendation. They raved about the duck dish, and I wanted to see it for myself.
Ya'll, this place is sooo delicious. I have taken my parents twice to this place just so they can have a Chu Chee Duck meal each. I cannot say enough about their Chu Chee Duck. My parents shared pieces with me and listen to me, go order yourself a Chu Chee Duck. Skin so perfectly crispy, flavorful, and airy, and meat sooo tender, I don't know how they do it, but I want them to never change the way this duck dish is prepared.
I have tried their House Pad Thai (delicious) and the Pad See Ew (also delicious and pictured here). One server told me the Pad See Ew noodles are made in-house. If this is true, I am amazed. It was perfect in consistency and delicious after stir fry. The way this restaurant cooks the noodles is as authentic as I've ever seen anywhere stateside.
Comes out smoky from the wok, the veggies are cooked perfectly al dente to leave a slight crunch. Portions are PERFECT.
I will be a regular patron from now on. If you haven't tried Mekvilai, you're missing out on a delicious gift to yourself, your family and friends. I have never endorsed a restaurant this...
Read moreI so wanted to love this place based on the reviews. But... sorry it was the first and last time I will get food here. I love thai food and am always searching for the best soup and dumplings. This one rated absolutely last. My order was simple. Seafood tomyum soup was very bland. It did was lacking that lemongrass flavor I have come to love and I was disappointed that the seafood consisted of 2 shrimp 1 scallop and 2 cut up mussels. The chicken wings were burnt and dry. Most of what was on the mekvilai treasure platter was overcooked and dry with no flavor. Even the sauces were bland. I'll stick to the Peanut house when I'm craving soup.My husband was even more disappointed than I was. Unfortunatly most restraunts we are trying in the area based on so called great reviews have been quite a disappointment and the ones we did enjoy have gone down hill in quality and flavor.... update.. I let the soup sit in the fridge over night and the broth had concentrated and was better but the seafood was stiff by then. That's about...
Read moreSign in entryway said to seat ourselves, only 1 server and please be patient. Menus on tables already. One gentleman was working the front. Was greeted within 90 seconds, had a diet Pepsi within another 2 minutes. Order taken. Four tables with guests and had my food within 5 minutes. Ordered the Thai ginger chicken, Tom kha ga soup and fried spring roll. The food was PERFECT. I've been in NC since April and have been somewhat disappointed with the quality of ethnic food. Chinese not so great, Japanese not authentic, no good Indian food that I've found yet and really bland Thai attempts. This place is IT!!! The Tom kha ga soup was amazing. Plenty of veggies in the spring roll. Ginger chicken was saucy, flavourful, fresh, tons of veggies, tons of perfectly cooked chicken. Price was very fair for quantity of food. The server was absolutely perfect - kind, polite, unobtrusive, and timely. I have found my new Thai...
