We were driving through Hickory and selected C.Graingers because we were looking for a place where we could eat outside with our dog. The outside tables all had umbrellas so we were able to have shade while we ate. The owner and her daughter were very cheerful and helpful. They immediately brought us out a bowl of water for the dog. They made us feel very welcomed and offered us some samples of the side dishes to help us make our decision. Their slaw, potato salad, and broccoli salad were all very good. They have a nice selection of BBQ sandwiches and other menu items that you can order with or without the bun. Our meal was served quickly and the BBQ was very flavorful and juicy. The bun was very soft and fresh. Their prices were very reasonable and they offered free refills on the drinks. Read moreMy new favorite restaurant in all of North Carolina. Right off 127 in Hickory, a modest building hides an amazing restaurant with some of the best fried shrimp I have ever tasted that happens to also be gluten free. Plus the hush puppies are also gluten free! I had the trifecta of Fried Shrimp, hush puppies and great tartar sauce for the first time in over 15 years since I had to go gluten free. This is no accident, the chef herself is gluten free and expertly crafts the seasoned breading by hand. She also made a killer pumpkin cheesecake with gluten free graham cracker crumbs and makes several other GF cakes that I hope to sample soon. Also the soups are GF and amazing like everything we tried! I would give this place six stars if I could. We just loved this place for the food, the great customer service and down home...
Read moreI wanted to like this place so much, I love hotdogs. first off I want to say the people were very nice! The service was fast! They tried so hard but the food just wasn't that good. We got all the way hotdogs the slaw had very little flavor and the chili could have been from an industrial sized can. I also had a chili and pimento cheese hotdog, the pimento cheese was very weird. My wife had the loaded bbq nachos which were good, the pulled pork itself was very tasty. The problem with the nachos was the cheese sauce had a sweetness and the bbq sauce had a sweetness too so it became to sweet in the end. I would try them again for other things besides the hotdogs (the bbq or brisket) they also had good sounding sandwhiches. I'm sure there's things on they're menu that would be...
