I am new to the Hickory area, and came across this restaurant in my search to find a good Chinese take-out spot. The food here was actually really good. I tried the general Tso's chicken and my fiance had the chicken curry, which he asked to be made extra spicy. The General's chicken had a nice crunch and the coating was not "gummy" like some places. It had a pleasant heat with a mild sweetness and also included a few mixed vegetables, which was nice. The cheese wantons included in the combo were a simple, but tasty addition. My fiance really liked the flavor of the curry chicken and was pleasantly surprised that they made it decently spicy, like he had wanted. After seeing the 4+ star reviews, we ordered takeout from here. Hubs had the sweet-and-sour chicken, and the red sauce was the consistency of jelly. It was way too thick.

I ordered the Japanese vegetables, which arrived floating in a sweet soy sauce. The "fried rice" is ordinary yellow rice--not fried, and no flavor at all. The yum-yum type sauce was incredibly sweet, as well. The best part of our meal was the two small spring rolls (small, as in, the size of my pinky finger).

It was as if everything they served was overly sweet, including the sweet carrots, which may as well have been candied, and the free syrupy-sweet tea that came with my husband's meal.

This is ONE OF THE BEST chinese resturants in Hickory. Food is affordable and you get large portions but of course, it all depends on the taste and I tell you, it is Great. They have their own unique flavor that you will not get Anywhere else. Best Lomein, chicken wing, fried rice, beef broccoli, and surprisingly best Japanese hibachi/teriyaki, I've had in Hickory. Also, their shrimp sauce is unique. If you order food to be spicy, it is actually spicy and you may cough.
