Tacos El Tio Chetos — Restaurant in Hickory

Wasn't impressed. I took a friend with me & she ordered a glass of HOT water & the waitress first brought her a glass of iced water. We told her again, so she brings a glass of water no ice.

Since neither of me or my friend spoke or read english, we tried to communicate with the waitress as to what we would like. Let's just say, that too was a disappointment as the waitress brought us out nothing like what we had asked for. (My friend didn't even touch her plate. Total waste of food)

I'm sorry, but, when you are living & trying to run a business in a country where the language is predominantly English, one would tend to think you'd make sure their staff had excellent English skills.

While I live real authentic Mexican food, I don't know what in the hell that was, but was definitely not like any Mexican food I ever...

Not impressed with this place at all. It's a small place so I had high hopes it was a hidden gem. I sat in the side half of the restaurant and the first thing I noticed was the sewage smell. Not very pleasant when you're thinking about bean burritos. The waitress was extremely nice, so I'll give them that one. I got steak and chicken tacos and my friend got a bean burrito. The bean burrito was very runny for some reason, but no big deal. They did compensate for that. The tacos were nothing special. The steak was very fatty and gristle filled. The chicken, well it was almost pureed. Not much flavor other than the onions. Also, the chips were nearly burnt. I don't typically complain about Mexican food, but the food I got did not match the reviews. Very disappointed with everything except...

I have been coming to Tacos el Tio Chetos for a very long time. The waitresses have always been very good, but the one that has been with them for years is awesome. She keeps up with the full dining room and I have watched her take deliveries and bring me my drink at the same time. I am well known there now since I eat there often. It is the best Mexican food in the area by far, and the most authentic! The food is inconsistent in its preparation, but always has been very delicious. Just like I cook!
