Parkway House Restaurant — Restaurant in Hickory

We frequent Parkway House Restaurant for breakfast. I find it very odd that they can’t seem to clean the salt and pepper shakers. I have commented on the situation before and was told they would be cleaned every Sunday. I have gone as far as asking for a cleaner one.

Yesterday morning I physically cleaned the one that was on our table. It was filthy! Obviously they weren’t cleaned yesterday.

I tried going on their website to comment, but it was taken down! That’s one way not to have anything negative about your business, just remove it all!

I would think with the economy as it is, a restaurant would want to keep their customers coming back, not making them think that maybe they should take their business elsewhere.

This is not the only issue we have had and yes we do keep going back hoping something or anything changes, because they do have good food on any given day that they decide to prepare it right. There have been issues with burnt bacon, uncooked omelets and waffles, and food not being hot. There has been times of the silverware being dirty, lipstick on my coffee cup, syrup on the seat that I sat in.

The one and only reason we keep trying is to support local businesses and the waitress there that has served us for years that is exceptional and fixes the issues to the best of her ability. She can only do so much and has tried to make it better.

These issues have been addressed but seems to have fallen on deaf ears. I sincerely hope things do change before all their customers go elsewhere. We used to eat there 3-4 times a week but have eased back to 1 maybe 2...

Have visited here several times now and was disappointed almost every time. Just came back from eating there and was VERY not satisfied this time, either. Ordered double cheese burger with salad Iettuce instead of leaf lettuce. Some kind of black thing, looked like a bug of some kind, and ordered onion, but no onion in sight. Waitress took lettuce back to kitchen and said she would show "them" but nothing was said or done from kitchen or manager. Also, they put plckles on plate under sandwich. I do not like pickles and I did not ask for them. I gave $10.00+ for this and was very, very disappointed. A while back, my son and me went there and the older woman who seated us was very, very rude and other people came in behind us and was waited on before us. My son said to the one who seated us that we were there first and she came back to our table and said they were very busy and our waitress would be by after she took the food that was ready to all the tables on other side of room. Another waitress taking orders of people who came behind us, did not take food out before taking order. We were very mad, mostly because of the way the hostess talked and acted towards us. Staff is nice but I went two times the first time was after Covid with my dad and we thought maybe it was nasty because it was after Covid well yesterday I went back with my sister and her bf and we ate there and all 3 of us thought it was over priced and so nasty my spaghetti literally tasted so bland and literally worse than school food that’s insane and my sister and her bf both had breakfast and said it was nasty how does anyone make breakfast bad. Than today I wake up and start feeling sick the only thing I ate was the salad and spaghetti yesterday and I am literally having pure liquid diarrhea like crazy idk what they did or gave me but I’m so sick today. Do not eat here I eat out a lot and I definitely know what’s microwaved and this place definitely is. Looks good but is disgusting. And makes you sick as a dog.

Update: I just ate for the first time all day and it came straight out of me.
