I have heard horror stories of how bad the service is here. I decided to give it a try today. I was mildly impressed. The menu showed the chicken sandwiches being out of stock, which was understandable considering the recent rage about popeyes. When I got to the counter, the gentleman at the register explained to me that the chicken sandwich was not out of stock, rather the sign had not been updated because it was controlled at a separate location. I ordered a spicy chicken sandwich, my girlfriend ordered a normal chicken sandwich. I got my small drink cup and went to the drink machine, which happened to be out of stock of nearly everything but coke, dr pepper, sprite, and fanta. This was a little irritating. I went to find a seat and noticed that every table was covered with chicken crumbs. The whole store was quite filthy, but I expected nothing different. I failed to mention earlier that the front door handle was sticky, making an audible squishing noise when I took my hand off. My order was yelled out, and I went to receive it. The sandwich bags had places to mark whether it was spicy or normal. The boxes were not marked, so I had to take the sandwiches apart to identify which was mine. The sandwich was delicious, I thoroughly enjoyed it. My girlfriend did mention that the normal chicken sandwich lacked flavor. The chicken is a very flaky fried chicken, which tends to make a mess, but definitely worth it for the taste. Prices were reasonable as compared to other chicken dealers like chick fila. Overall I probably won't be back for a while because there isn't a popeyes close to where I live, (lenoir). If I do however find myself in hickory, I may stop back in, and hope the building is a little more...
Read moreThis is the WORST experience I’ve ever had with fast food. (Warning: Long review ahead, if you plan on eating here I recommend you take the time to read it)
This was our first time eating at Popeyes, we let them know at the speaker we would need a moment to look at the menu and in response got an attitude from the employee.
They didn’t tell us how much it cost and didn’t say a single word to us at the window. I found out when I got my receipt that was at the bottom of the bag that we had ordered $30 worth of food; which I would be fine with if the food was worth anything.
Once we were handed our food they walked away from the window (we should have checked to see everything was there but at the end of the day the staff should be competent enough to do their job).
We sat there for about two minutes while I looked for the receipt and they NEVER came back to the window to check if we needed anything. So to me, it seems either they knew they didn’t give us all of our food or they just don’t care to check that it was all there.
For THIRTY DOLLARS we ordered the platters which comes with TWO SIDES; We had ordered the shrimp platter and the spicy chicken tenders platter; the shrimp tasted as if it had been sitting out all day and the chicken tenders were cold.
We were supposed to get mac & cheese, cole slaw, and two sides of cajun fries. We only got the coleslaw and one stale side of cajun fries.
The biscuits we received were only cooked on the outside, raw in the center.
This place needs serious help and staff who cares, I’m not usually one to leave such a salty review and I’m all for second chances but everything mentioned in this review would be avoidable if people would...
Read moreStore location: Hickory, North Carolina. This is the 2nd time in less than a month that I have attemped to enjoy a lunch at Popeyes. The first time I attempted to order lunch, two employees were more concerned about arguing about who was right and who was wrong on filling an order. I eventually left without placing an order because first I'm not going to eat in an environment like that and the second reason is my time is valuable as well and I'm not going to wait all day to have the opportunity to even place an order. The only reason I came back for a second go at it is because I always try to give restaurants a second chance especially in this day and time. Now for today's experience. The employees acted in a fashion that is embarrassing. One employee that had picked out hair didn't have in tied up so who knows where his hair was going. That same employee spoke in a very derogatory fashion to a grub hub driver. The employee messed the order up and took it out on the driver. That same employee spoke in the same fashion to several co-workers. Now, on to the other employees. One of the females was in her on little world with her headphones in her ear talking about a medical condition that she has. Then another female who appeared to be the manager (and was involved in the previous visit) was at a loss as to what was even going on. Finally when I did finally get my food, just like the two orders prior to mine, we had to ask for utensils to even be able to eat the food. Popeyes you need to get control of the Hickory store before...
