We had friends rave about this place, saying it’s the best dog they’ve ever had and the cheeseburger was fantastic. We checked it out today. The patrons were very nice, but the staff was too busy for pleasantries. The menu is tacked to the wall at every booth. CASH ONLY and you better read how to place your order because if you are used to saying ATW and getting mustard, slaw, chili and onions, you will be disappointed. A little man came back in and said he didn’t get slaw. She told him he got what he ordered and if he wanted everything, he should’ve said Loaded. Yikes. The price is the same so I’m not sure why she just didn’t give him a little container of slaw. We upgraded to the all beef dog and got it loaded. We also ordered a double cheeseburger. The condiments are free but there is an up charge for everything else - see menu pic. They were out of fries so the only option was bagged chips. Pass. They understand the definition of double CHEESEburger because each patty had cheese. Show of hands: who else gets aggravated when a double cheeseburger only has one piece of cheese? The burgers were very bland so I had to add quite a bit of salt and ketchup. My burger had 6 pieces of very tough gristle. They were small but that just made it worse because I had to chew like a baby to try and separate the gristle from the meat. The beef hotdog itself was good as was the steamed bun. The slaw tasted like bulk slaw at the grocery. The chili is watery, had no flavor and didn’t add anything of value to the dog. They are very clear that you need to order, eat and get out. Don’t go here expecting to chat or relax over lunch. We parked behind the building and spaces are really limited. They have a front and back door and you wait to seat yourself. Two entries makes it hard to know who was first. We will not go back.

I visited this establishment on a Saturday afternoon at about 1pm. There was a light crowd of people with only a few staff members working in the kitchen. I ordered 2 hotdogs with mustard, ketchup, chili and Cole slaw and French Fries. The chili was rather delicious in flavor and the Cole slaw was quite delightful with a flavor similar to KFC's. The hotdog was made of beef, reddish in color and the outside texture was roasted. The hotdog had a snap to it once bitten into like you would experience while eating a NYC Nathan's dog, except The Dog House's hot dogs are way thicker. The staff was generally friendly upon arrival and asked me if I enjoyed my meal upon departure. I found the customer service to be exceptional and highly recommend this spot to locals and visitors to High Point.

This has been a legend in my family for decades and I just tried it for the first time. It did not disappoint. Super cheap, incredibly fast, and so delicious. I wasn't even in the mood for hot dogs so I ordered one, then promptly ordered two more after tasting the first. Try the chili and the onions and the cheese. The fries were decent too. Parking lot in back with a rear entrance. Will definitely return when I'm in High Point next year.

I want to give them 5 stars, because I can hardly believe just how quaint and delicious and inexpensive this little dive is! We all loved our food, our server was super sweet, and we had our food so fast! The only reason I can't give them 5 stars is because when we first arrived, we had never been there before, and all of the booths were taken (there are only a few, it's very small), no one greeted us or told us just to wait and someone would be with us soon.....so we were just sort of standing there in the doorway awkwardly, trying to decide if they wanted us to wait there or if we should go someplace else. Once a table became open they were very friendly and accommodating, it was just awkward for that 10-15 mins that the 5 of us stood there wondering if we were right to stand there in the way! I will definitely go back and hopefully they will have upped their greeting game and will greet us next time! The food, service, and pricing could not have been better. It is worth noting that they are only open from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and closed on Sundays...
