This was the most disappointing meal I've ever had. Sadly, this was a group experience, and everyone in attendance agreed. The wait staff was good, some seemed inexperienced but were very helpful in trying to get things right. A good staff is important, however the the food experience is tantamount to success in this environment. There is a lot of competition at the corner they are located. You can't go wrong choosing any of them over this one.
We ordered the fried pickles. I like the spears, and these looked fantastic coming out. Upon closer inspection they were just deep fried pickles with fried beer batter scattered around them. Kudos for trying to scratch make them, but you have to press the spears in towels in order for the batter to adhere. The house made pretzel was the usual pre frozen kind with a cheez whiz based dipping sauce that didn't taste of beer, or horseradish. The Louisiana rice bowl was okay, and would have bordered on good if it had the shrimp listed on the menu in the ingredients. The Tortellini soup was passable. 2 Fainting goat burgers were ordered, and indeed the patties were smashed. Unseasoned but smashed none the less. One was cooked to order, one very well done. They were ordered medium. One arrived with no toppings. One contained a tomato onions and greens and about an 1/8 teaspoon of goat cheese. The other with just some onions. The waiter did try to fix the kitchen error by bringing out some cheese on the side. The Hudson salad had all the ingredients you would expect. Instead of the usual dressing for this salad, Mayonnaise with some salt mixed in was provided. The sliders did arrive as per the menu as well. They were just pre frozen GFS slider sized beef patties, no seasoning on those either. The fries were excellent. Cooked to perfection, and really on the very brown side as any good hand cut fry should be. Lightly...
Read moreDisappointing Birthday Lunch Experience at Bad Benny's Pour House
I visited Bad Benny’s Pour House at 2 p.m. with my grandma for her birthday, along with my sister and daughter. We were seated and served by Tom H., and we ordered from the lunch menu: the Half “Slimmer Jane” sandwich with French onion soup for my grandma and me (\$7 each), and boneless wings—Buffalo for my sister and BBQ (on the side) for my daughter. We also requested ranch dressing.
Here’s how the visit went downhill:
Lack of communication about pricing – Our printed menu listed the Slimmer Jane as \
7, but we were charged \\
10 without any prior notice. We were also charged \$0.75 each for extra sauce—again, not communicated in advance.Missing condiments and poor follow-up – My grandma didn’t get sandwich sauce until I had to ask - and then was charged extra for it. My sister later asked for BBQ sauce for her fries. None of us had our water refilled; I had to get up and go to the bar and ask for it myself.
Delayed service and inattentive staff – Our server cleared some plates, then disappeared. A manager didn’t check on us until 15 minutes later.
Tense interaction over billing – We brought up the unexpected charges calmly. Tom H. removed the upcharges but responded by raising his voice at my grandma.
Bottom line: The confusing, outdated menu pricing and surprise charges led to a bill \$9 higher than expected. The service was slow and inattentive, and the interaction over the bill was unnecessarily tense. If menu prices have changed for sandwiches or they plan to add charges for sauces, the restaurant needs to update the menu and inform customers—especially on special occasions. Ultimately, our birthday lunch was overshadowed by miscommunication and poor...
Read moreWe had our 30th High School reunion here and our experience here was AWESOME! From planning to the day of the event, Bad Benny’s Pour House was very accommodating. In fact, we think that Milford and Lakeland High School should have all their reunions here.
They set up a table up front to welcome classmates and even had a table specifically for school memorabilia. They had a plug in for us to play our own music on and a TV to play some old videos and pictures on. All while having some great sports on for us and some of the other half’s to watch.
Dave, the owner, helped me get it all set up with ease. The food was great and they kept it coming all through event so it stayed warm. They had two designated areas for us all to hang out even while other customers could come in and eat/drink. And that was not a problem for us. (We didn’t have the budget to rent out the whole place.)
Dave had 3 servers designated just for our group and these ladies were very attentive to us and had fair prices on everything. I hope we tipped them well. The ladies of BBPH even helped us decorate the place with the balloons, streamers we brought. They were very flexible in where we could put the decorations, as long as we helped clean them up afterwards. And that wasn’t a problem for us either. It’s just be respectful to the venue we’re using. Thanks so much to Dave, Holly, and the rest of BBPH team!!!
On a side note: While our event was going on, we had the pleasure to have a singer song writer play for a few hours too. He wasn’t too loud and he played a ton of tracks from the 90s. Perfect for our group. Thanks again to Jacob Smith for playing to...
