Bagel Bistro — Restaurant in Hillsborough Township

This was a total ** show from start to finish.

First, my daughter’s bagel had virtually no cream cheese. When we politely asked for more, not only did we get attitude, but they told us it would cost extra. Seriously?

My wife ordered a toasted turkey club with cheese and mayo — the bread was barely toasted, and it came with neither cheese nor mayo. Just a sad, dry sandwich… well, almost dry — more on that in a second.

I also ordered home fries and got one of the smallest portions I’ve ever seen. It felt more like a toddler-sized sample than a proper side dish.

And then the kicker: they tossed a pickle — wrapped in paper — at the bottom of the bag. Of course, it leaked through everything, soaking the sandwich and fries. So not only were they sad and dry, now they were soggy too.

To be fair, the Taylor Ham, Egg, and Cheese on a Hard Roll with SPK was actually really good — spot on, no complaints there.

But overall? This place has gone downhill. It used to be reliable, but not anymore. I know these are "first world" problems, but when you're paying premium prices... which are forever increasing, you expect at least basic competence.

Best Bagels in Hillsborough period. Only bagels in central NJ that are even close to NYC north NJ quality of Bagels. Service is dramatically lacking. Nearly impossible to place a phone order. Especially on the weekend. Very frustrating. Sometimes food is a little rushed and sloppy. But overall food is pretty good. The staff is friendly. They just need to be properly staffed so the phone can be answered. I hope the owner reads this and puts an extra person on the phones. Especially on weekends. All I want to do is place a phone order and pick up. My whole family loves the food. It just takes half a dozen phone calls and a little luck to order ahead by phone. I went into this Bistro after my PT just to get a bagel and a cup of coffee. I was greeted by two lovely ladies. I told them it was my first time there and what do they recommend? This handsome gentleman said everything to the left. I told him he was on my left and we had a great chuckle. One of the ladies pointed to the menu and she recommended the #1. Great recommendation. That breakfast sandwich was soooooo good! I finished it before i got to work. I will recommend Bagel Bistro to my friends associates and my 454 customers. I will definitely be back.
