Truly, the quintessential "Dive Bar"!
Even the bathrooms reflect those of a Dive Bar; Clean enough to be safe [as long as you stand upright] yet dirty enough to acknowledge those who didn't! And the aromas are strong - -enough to make you momentary sober!
The Urinal is always brimming with freshly-deposited, "Human Lemonade", and can be a "particular treat" for those who enjoy the other kind of "beverage" - straight from the "Trough"!
The insides know "No Paint", The windows know "No Windex", The bar and stools know "No Youth" yet know "Methuselah"... and the floors - know neither "Broom, Mop nor Polish" and may have come from the "Biblical Ark"?
An Exhaust Fan would be greatly appreciated as the dive gets packed, and the swells of humanity, invoke the odors of the local stables, pens, sties and latrines! On rare occasions, relief comes - as the older boys will splash on an abundance of either "Brut," or "English Leather"!
However, the aforementioned all adds up to its distinct, tawdry character, along with its "Culturally Challenged" regulars who know not the "The Cornerstone" or who descend from "The Cornerstone" for additional, brews and shots - surrounded by the "Roughriders". It is not and it shall never be - a classy joint; yet, it is a joint - in and of itself - and that is what continues to make "Lou's Tavern" the glorious and undisputed Dive...
Read moreThis is a very nice spot. If you are a connoisseur of dive bars like I am, you will love the decor and vibe. The customers and bartender were all friendly. Price was about average I guess. Regarding food, they said they only had a small bar pie, and that limited menu sort of gave me the impression that it was probably frozen and heated up, so I passed on the food and just enjoyed a beer and the atmosphere. Definitely a nice spot to grab a drink though. Especially if you are a local in the area of this bar, I definitely recommend it. If you are a fellow dive bar connoisseur, put this one on your list, and unless you happen to be hungry at the time, I don't think you'll be disappointed at all....
Read moreKind of a classic bar in a lot of ways. A lot of dive bars are owned by grumpy Old Men which is charming and its own way, but this place was owned by a cool blonde woman. It's a good spot where a lot of local seem to hang out in a cool hipster crowd also finds it appealing. It's right down the street from the cornerstone so it makes for a good spot to hang out for conversation before heading to the cornerstone...
