Walked in and it was completely dead at 3pm in a Saturday. Had like 3 tables. Was not greeted when we walked in but 2 servers at the hostess stand a foot away from us. One complaining to the other that “he’s having to play manager too.” After they finished their conversation they seated us. Chips, dip and queso was good. Jay, our server kept drinks refilled and checked on us numerous times even though he said he had to “play bartender too”. He acted like he hated his job but was trying his best to hold it together. He complained out loud about the table before us only leaving him change, and said “atleast it’s silver and I can do a load of clothes for that”. They seated us right in front of where the waitress’ were all sitting and talking and complaining about how their hate their job and their boss, and how their boss was now making them close the store tonight. And Our server mentioned he “shared words” with his boss over it. They complained for atleast 10 minutes until I said rather loudly to my husband “man I sure would love to have a nice dinner with my husband instead of listening to a bunch of people complain about their job.” They got up and went on somewhere a minute after I said that. Food came out. Looked great. Fries tasted great. Burger tasted like the grill had some kind of chemical or something on it. It tasted very off. Neither one of us could finish our burgers because of the taste, it made us nauseous to be honest. We didn’t complain because the waiter and waitresses already seemed to be having a bad time. Place was dated and needs a deep deep cleaning. Small table signs had a layer of dust and grease and finger prints all over it. (See pic) and wall has splatters all over it (see pic). Who I’m assuming is the manager (older guy dressed in a vest) was wandering around half the time just lurking on his workers. The other time he sat at a table with his laptop. While I feel for the servers, they must realize they can’t complain like that in front of the customers- it made our experience very awkward and not enjoyable. Place looked and felt sad, and run down. No liveliness at all. No happy smiling faces from waiters or the few customers there was. We definitely will not return. This place needs an over haul looks wise, and cleaning wise, and employees need re-training. I don’t see this place staying open...

Second, I went to restroom as soon as I got there and it was FILTHY! Men's room had not been cleaned in a long time. One toilet was filled with waste and paper spilling over. Handicapped stall was dirty and I noticed baby changing table had not been cleaned in a long time, no way to expose a child to who knows what. There was soap and paper towels at the sink. However, no way do you want to touch anything including the door. I have never seen a modern facility in such unsanitary condition. This was at noon and obviously not a problem that began that day. This was long time neglect. How does this place pass a health inspection?
We just came from a funeral, so I chose no drama by leaving, but should have!
Server was not friendly (maybe because she has to work there). She asked if I wanted to order a beverage and I began to look for beverage selections. She then walked away without saying anything.
Server finally returned several minutes later, I ordered a Coke, my lady had already ordered a Strawberry Daiquiri while I was in restroom but not received it. Few minutes later, I got the Coke, but no Daiquiri. Several minutes later, the Daiquiri finally served.
We eventually got our order taken. Food arrived within a reasonable time. She got the taco salad and even after removing peppers, it was too spicy for her. So, if you have a sensitivity to such, avoid that. I got the Angus sliders and they were cooked correctly.
Everything about this place seems dirty (including menu) and in need of an update/repairs. Even leaving, I noticed glass doors had handprints and smudges from days before.
We did not get food poisoning which was a fear after seeing the conditions.
I did leave a tip though it was not great service. However, I will never be back here. Considering we had to drive past a Cracker Barrel to get here, I made a bad choice. We no longer have a local Tumbleweed, so we wanted to try a place not available to us.
I will never go in another place that doesn't have a...
Read moreIt's been more than 20 years since I've been (due to a move) to Tumbleweed. Having just moved back, family now in tow, I was anxious to return to a childhood favorite. I could not have been more disappointed. The exterior is dilapidated, and we wondered if the restaurant was even open. The place was nearly empty, I was there at 5p on a Friday night. The hostess tried to seat us near a young family with out of control children; the kids were standing in their seats, screeching (they were one of only 3 tables even seated in the restaurant). We were relocated, and our waitress came limping over, looking like something from a truck stop diner 30 years ago. I had read reviews about the wait being long, and that was true. The server took our drink orders, then took an inordinate amount of time bringing them. The queso we ordered - it's Rotel. The chips were good. We ordered... and waited more than 30 minutes for our food to appear. Again - there is NO ONE in the restaurant, aside from us, the screeching children, and two other tables. Our food arrived, and I was repulsed - my chimichanga with queso? DRENCHED in that Rotel (and please, I love Rotel, but this was utterly repulsive-looking), very small sides of beans and rice. The rice tasted stale. The beans were good. The chimichanga had a great flavor, but there was so much queso dumped on it, I was unable to eat even half. My son ordered a burger and fries and was very pleased. My other son ordered a burrito with queso and had the same experience I had. He's a big guy with a big appetite, and he barely touched his food. Repulsive plate to look at (we eat with our eyes first... my eyes would have vomited if they could). Refills on drinks and chips were SO painfully slow we just quit asking.
We will not be back. I've read here the Outer Loop and Louisville locations are better, so we may try that, as Tumbleweed was legendary, in my mind, when I was a kid, and this just disappointed on so, so...
