Fun atmosphere with lively pop music as soon as you walk in. Modern and cozy decor and lighting. There were about 10 people in line in front of us, but the line moved very quickly and only took about 5 minutes to place our order. We did not really know how to order or where to go at first, but we just followed along. It is setup like a Chipotle/Moe's where you choose what you want to add as you go along the line. Coffee and drinks are ordered at the end of the line. They have hot and iced coffee, cold brew, espresso, etc. Hubby ordered 3 breakfast tacos and a large caramel iced coffee. He said the tacos were good just a bit bland but he also likes his food very spicy. He had flour tortillas with egg, chicken, black beans, peppers, shredded cheese, etc. in his tacos. They had tons of add-ins like salsa, sausage, queso, breakfast potatoes The tacos were huge and filled to the max and he could not finish the 3rd because of the amount of food. He is an eater so that doesn't happen often. Would recommend 2 tacos for most people and 1 taco for kids. Hubby did not like the caramel flavor in his iced coffee as he said it tasted too fake, so maybe skip the flavorings. Our son and I split the french toast minus the chutney (2 slices of bread cut in half) and got a side of bacon. The french toast was good and fresh. Came with dusting of powdered sugar and side of maple syrup. Just was not a large portion of french toast for $10. My son ate all of his french toast and he is a very picky eater. The bacon was $1 per piece and the pieces were huge and thick. Good taste and reasonable price for the size of bacon. I ordered an iced mocha and it was good and had a subtle mocha taste and was not overly sweet. Not a strong espresso flavor, more like chocolate milk, but still enjoyable. The coffee was very reasonably priced. My mocha was just a little over $5 for a large which is a steal compared to a chain and to some of the other local breakfast joints. The coffees were picked up at the side counter and the french toast was brought to our table about 5 minutes after we paid for our order. We sat outside as there are only about 10 small tables inside. It was nice and clean inside and outside. Quick service and friendly staff. Would definitely go back and try again next time...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLast week I visited Java Burrito Company in Hilton Head with my family. I have never heard of Java Burrito Company before my visit and here is my review:
PROS: The atmosphere was clean and inviting. The staff greeted me when I entered. The staff was friendly, attentive and courteous when I ordered my food. The set-up reminded me of Chipotle but 100 times better without the chaos. The food prep area was clean, organized and uncluttered. The food was delicious! This was the first time that I ever had a fish burrito, and it was really good. I liked the fact that the Mahi-Mahi in my burrito was made to order, and I didnāt mind waiting for a few minutes for my food. This speaks volumes about this restaurantās focus on freshness. I also loved the variety of food choices. Great job Java Burrito Team on making a great 1st impression....on the food.
CONS: The only reason that we initially went to this restaurant is because we saw online that they had a Beet Root Latte! This sounded amazing and I was eager to try it out. I ordered two drinks, a Beet Root Latte and a Turmeric Latte. Very disappointing to say the least! The menu stated that these drinks are made with āyour choice of milkā. I prefer oat milk. However, the barista told me that he only uses almond milk for these latte drinks. Both drinks were very lackluster and disappointing. After taking a few sips, I couldnāt believe that I just paid almost $14.00 ($7/per latte) for what tasted like bland, watery leftover Fruit Loops cereal milk on ice!
It was disgusting with very little flavor. I may come back for a burrito, but Iāll never come back to this place for coffee, lattes, etc. If the lattes were this bad, then how do the other drinks taste??? Iāll find someplace else for those specialty drinks. Java Burrito Team, thumbs down on the coffee/tea beverages! Focus on what youāre good at and leave that part of the business to the experts! The concept sounds nice, but you have to deliver. First impressions are everything.
CONCLUSION: I would like to give 5 starts but I can't. I may come back for a burrito or taco, but I will never come back for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTraveling down Broughton St from MLK, you will pass over-priced shop after over-priced restaurant. Once you get to the far end, you may think it is only houses left to see...wrong! Here, you will find one of downtown's hidden gems, Java Burrito. Sounds weird, right? In theory, it is...but it works! This is kind of like 2 establishments into 1. I've had the pleasure of enjoying both several times. Let's talk about the Java side first. The baristas are always pleasant and on their game. They have a great selection of coffee drinks. However, they also serve alcohol. They capitalize on this fact by creating unique espresso cocktails! Also on hand are what appear to be housemade pastries. The cinnamon roll absolutely slaps! Now the Burrito side. Ever wish that Chipotle tasted better, more fresh and didn't give you the cramps from hell? Well...here ya go! The bar style restaurant is serving up the best of the best. I usually go for a bowl option with the chicken and it never disappoints. All the ingredients are fresh and again, unique to other establishments. Yet again, Java Burrito capitalizes on being different. A coffee shop being attached means that the Burrito side is open as well and serving up breakfast options to mirror their afternoon offerings. Long story long....you will not walk away...
