The chicken pot pie is a soup bowl literally with cream of chicken soup and a layer of flaked bread on top… no bottom crust to it, it is a $20 bowl of soup. Crab cake dinner is $29 for what we were told a single 4 oz Crabcake & my date was offered a second Crabcake, price unknown, that turned into a $40 moderately good plate. Wine bottle was really not good at all, had no legs, very sweet even tasted cheap, like 7-11 cheap. Chardonnay around $38 a bottle. Friend had two cocktails that were good. Bread and butter plate… no way these retirees can chew it I’m 100-% sure. If you are retired on the way, glue them in string, very tough bread, although great butter. Service was fine, very fast and friendly, and professional enough that nothing stood out from that part of the experience.
I’ve been to your restaurant 4 times and this was not the way I wanted to spend $175 for a dinner for two, we both lost on this visit so I would correct it and fast, we know your quality level is higher than this and it’s easily fixable.
Your undisclosed charge for the crabcake was fine enough, but the under-described portion of 4oz clearly was the reason for ordering a second cake. They are not 4 ounces - much larger and it was too much. Your wine, well that’s on the vinter.
That’s fair enough. I’ve been to your place for lunches in Bluffton. Maybe I should stick with that location. I really am convinced your reply is sending the message that you are fine with how you run things on Island. Keep it that way. I’m not a tourist your snippy little response...
Read moreI have been eating at Truffles for multiple years now and have never had the issues I have had this week. I went with a group of friends and we are on the younger side (~24 years old). We visited out of state as Sea Pines is after all a resort destination and it was quite ridiculous that we had run into being unable to order a glass of wine with our meals due to the fact that nobody in the establishment had any idea what an out of state ID could look like - from the inattentive waiter Frank that could not even provide our new drink orders of tap water correctly, to the managers that were as equally inexperienced, nobody at the restaurant was trained enough to review our licenses. After presenting multiple forms and offering to allow any police/authority to verify the ID out of principle we had given up and had placed orders for meals alone. At that point, two of the meals had come out cooked incorrectly and we had lost our appetites for the most part. In all of my experiences here at Truffles, I've never had this issue and it has completely turned us off of the establishment.
I would highly recommend staff receive some better training as it is quite off-putting to tourists who come to the resort area to enjoy vacation to experience such inconveniences, especially as long time recurring customers that have never had an issue prior to this experience.
Plenty of options, both in the gate and out, that are more equipped to deal with those traveling on vacation, while also being more knowledgeable and...
Read moreWe went here for lunch with a group of 10. We were one of ~6 tables in the restaurant. It was not very busy. Our waiter was a mess. He kept commenting that he was the night bar tender and not sure about this or that. He couldn't remember drink orders. Missed the lemon in my tea. Small stuff, up front. Most of this wasn't that big of a deal. He did bring out the wrong burger for one of our group, though.
The real issue arose when my son's burger didn't arrive. We think he forgot to enter the kids burger, but he blamed the kitchen. My son didn't get his food until everyone was done eating. Kind of a big deal for a 6 yr old. Luckily, he handled it like a champ and didn't meltdown. But the waiter showed no care or remorse. Just blamed the kitchen. He comped the burger, but by that time we were so frustrated it didn't matter.
I also had a very awkward interaction with the waiter when I told him about my gluten allergy and instead of changing the dressing on the ahi salad he vehemently talked me out of it due to the dressing containing gluten, stating that the "dressing made the salad" and I should pick something else. Okay... At least he steered me away from the dressing.
The food was good though. If you have kids, or you're in any sort of a hurry, be very...
