Golden City — Restaurant in Hockessin, Delaware

Avoid this place like the Plague! When first arriving at the restaurant, I walk to the front door to find 2 boxes of used frying oil just sitting on the sidewalk next to the front door. The oil smelled awful, I figured they must've recently changed it. After walking inside,I was stunned by how filthy-dirty the place was. Everything was all over the place, what a dump! It was getting late, so I decided to place a small order of food, against my better judgment. That was a big mistake, the food was not edible. I threw everything ordered in the trash. The whole place was just filthy, dirty walls, floors, windows, kitchen area, I can-not say anything positive about this place, other than, I'll never be back again! I do-not recommend this place to anyone. Any business owner who runs a business like this, deserves to be out of business! The health department should definitely investigate this place. I decided to post their menu on here so everyone can see how unorganized and disgusting this place actually is. They can-not even spend money to purchase new menus, so they use white-out and a pen on all of the menus to change the prices. I generally don’t write reviews; but this was our first experience with this Chinese restaurant and it was extremely poor service. We ordered our food at 5:52pm, I received a phone call at 6:08pm that it would take longer than expected and we should look to wait an hour. I stated that that was no big deal and that we would wait. At 7:24pm I called, they said it would be another 30 minutes. Again, I stated that would be ok. After 40 minutes, we still had not received our food. I called again and they said oh we will start making it now, but it will be another 30-40minutes. Needless to say, I canceled the order and will never order from here again. 2 + hours for a small order of Chinese food is ridiculous. I’m surprised at the positive reviews. This is some of the worst Chinese food I’ve had. It was completely bland and not worth the calories. The sweet and sour chicken is tasteless puffy fried chicken dipped in orange sweet sauce over white rice. Crab rangoons are an unusual triangle instead of little packages but the filling is just cream cheese without flavor or crab. My husband’s mu shu pork was runny and strange but the best dish of the night. Lo mein was ok but nondescript. Not to mention that the food was 20 minutes later than expected and my husband had to stand in their non-air conditioned restaurant on a 100 degree day.
