Capt'n Pete's Seafood Market — Restaurant in Holden Beach

I've had a vacation home on Holden Beach for over 30 years and this is by far the best place to buy fresh seafood. I've never bought anything that wasn't of the highest quality. Unlike some other fish mongers in the area, the price of all selections is prominently posted (I've often wondered at these other places if the "price" varies, depending on what they think they can get). Best of all, EVERYONE who works here is friendly and helpful.... and extremely considerate. A few days ago, I called ahead and learned that one of my favorite, whole black bass, was in. HORRIBLE-- Waited forever for table, waited forever for drinks, never got bread. Refills were non existent and when the one time we did get a refill it was room temperature tea! Order was wrong-- it was uncomfortably hot in the restaurant. Service was horrible and when the waitress came up to ask if everything was okay and we said NO -we just want to get out of here she said "okay" I love Holden Beach and will return but NOT TO Capt'n Pete's. Horrible service if your food is going to cost that much at least make sure it is the way I ordered it, that is to my table in a timely manner, that it tastes good, that the air is on and that your wait...

Get there early and enjoy impeccable service! We arrived at 5pm and were quickly seated...a group of 21, 14 adults and 7 kids. The staff were quick on drinks, explaining the fresh catch of the day, and taking orders. Food came out fast, hot and delivered to all 21 within minutes, no one waited which is tough for any restaurant to do. I had the seafood sampler dinner and it was a mouth watering, delicious mix of scallop, shrimp, crab cakes, fish and red potatoes. Price was well worth the experience, food and service received.
