Okay. We've been here a small handful of times and always not just come back but brought friends back. It's not good, it's great. The food menu is pretty inspired and amazing... the drink menu the same but also even more unique.
That said. They seem to keep finding great staff that elevates the experience. Henry at the bar... think you've had an Old Fashioned? I've had them all over but you haven't had Henry's... mellow... smooth... but comes out in this crazy glass globe that subtly takes the orange and smoke essence into your eyeballs in a way you didn't know you should know how a drink should be enjoyed. Fine. Don't believe me. Until you've tried it you have no idea. You're missing out.
Food. Well. I've lived in Japan. I love how the Japanese have mastered culinary elements at every angle. They also know how to do it here at Mint... I already knew that. They aren't replicating something else... they are elevating it.
Above their culinary capabilities though, Lindsay, our server, knew not just the menu, but also how to twist and turn what you say you prefer into what you wish they could make happen to your preference. Umhh... could Lindsay be my server at every establishment I drop in at? Not likely but I'm glad she was here. She steered us into exactly what worked for everyone at the table. Anyway... I could go on and on but when I want a relaxing night out and a cultural and culinary experience beyond what I'm paying for I'm asking for Lindsay again at...
Read moreI went with a group of 16 for a work social event. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was great, along with the decor. The food was excellent and there was nothing that was disliked by anyone. We started off with appetizers (small plates), which included the Edamame, Walu Ceviche and Poke Nacho, all of which were excellent. The "small" plates are as described, small. If your going to fill up, you'll likely need more, such as one of their delicious rolls. I had the Seared Wagyu Beef, which is cut into small chunks. I noticed that there is also Wagyu Steak, which I would have preferred had I noticed it on the menu. It's more towards the bottom. It might be helpful to organize the menu so all the fish is together, all the chicken is together and all the beef is together etc. Not the end of the world, just a suggestion. I also had the Vega roll, which was excellent. My wife had the Stargazer, which was amazing. The presentation was beautiful. The texture and flavors complimented each other very nicely. This was probably our favorite. We also ordered dessert, which consisted of the Chocolate mousse and Bourbon ice cream. The Chocolate mousse was great and not too rich. The Bourbon ice cream was also great and had a very defined Bourbon flavor, which was complimented with vanilla. Overall, a great experience and we...
Read moreIt was my second time at Mint (the first one was at the one in sugarhouse and the waitress was awesome) but this time I went to this other Mint and the waiter was not nice at all. I don’t eat any raw fish, and when I asked if they could do a sushi roll with specific ingredients he said no. Immediately. I asked why because in mint from sugarhouse they did adapt the sushi and he said just no. Then, after my shock and silence, ge said “well, just tell me what you want!” And I was like “you told me it wouldn’t be possible” - at the end, I tell him I want a roll with crab, avocado, and cream cheese. He says ok. I then receive a roll with no avocado, cucumber, and no cream cheese. I didn’t say anything because we were with friends, but it felt very disrespectful. This guy also gave good recommendations about food to our friends, but after that I just wasn’t interested. I never write bad reviews but this was not good at all. Also considering that in the sugarhouse location they had NO problem creating the sushi...
