Don Petrino’s Pizzeria — Restaurant in Holland Charter Township

We love to try local pizza places when we go on vacation. Our first impression of Don Petrino's Pizzeria was not great, but it got better the longer we were there. The door was open, and it was warm but not miserable inside. We wonder if the A/C was broken, but we didn't ask. There were a few men sitting at the outside tables who looked homeless, so we were a bit uncomfortable as we walked in. The prices on the menu were covered up for some reason, so my husband had to ask about the prices. The first table we sat at was sticky, so we ended up moving tables. When the man (who I assume was the manager or owner) saw we had moved, he acknowledged that the table was sticky. He said it was due to the cleaner that is used on it. It is breaking down the stain. He said he needs to sand it down and reseal it. That made me feel better ... knowing it wasn't sticky from not being cleaned. We were the only ones dining in (granted it was pretty late for dinner). Most customers appeared to be grabbing takeout.

We ordered three pizzas - one with cheese, one with ham, and one with pineapple. They were delicious! I enjoyed the crust very much. I also really love the mural on the wall! All in all it was not a...

We are from Grand Rapids and have tried about every pizza place in town. We come to Holland every year for vacation for a week and try a different pizza place. First time at Don Petrino's.

1. Ordered take out. Normally, I find pizza places aren't known for kindness on the phone. They take your order, could care less, and make your food. That's fine, I guess... But this was different. The woman who answered took the time to explain their menu, was not annoyed, and was very pleasant.

2. Pick up. They were well staffed. Everyone looked happy and busy either cooking, taking orders, or actively cleaning.

3. Food. The pizza and bread knots were amazing. Please don't take that lightly... They were AMAZING. We are very picky, and couldn't find a complaint at all. Everything was so fresh - from the dough (perfectly cooked), to the sauce, to the cheese. We traveled to Italy in 2019 and tried pizza across the country... This surpasses them all.

4. Thank you. We rarely leave reviews, but 6hrs after dinner, we are still thinking about it. It's not just pizza here, it's perfection.
