I like a chunky salsa with a nice balance of heat, sweet and zesty; I enjoyed theirs (as did my white shirt). It went well with the tasty margaritas and chips. For entrees we had Carne Asada; the meat could have been more tender, but the onions, guacamole and frijoles de la olla were excellent and more than made up for it, the rice was not the usual ubiquitous Spanish junk, it was light on the tomato with bits of corn, peas and green beans in it, and the Burrito Jalisco... couldn't believe the amount of shrimp in it. A white cheese sauce with grilled pineapple topped it off just right.

We have a thing for horchata (Mexican rice milk drink with a touch of cinnamon and sugar). Few places put it on the menu, so we usually ask... they brought us two huge frosty mugs of it! Had an interesting conversation with one of the waiters who was surprised to see us drinking it (we are VERY gringo looking).

Being authentic Dutch and not having been to a ranchita, I am unable to state this is or is not "authentic" Mexican food. I do know that our entire meal was delicious, while the service was engaging and attentive! We dined at the 16th street location and will be...

Not impressed. We had a lousy server. We just sat down and he comes by asking if we are ready, I said "no." The first basket of chips he brings is not even full. It was less than half way filled. He comes back a minute later. We haven't received our extra salsa (there were 4 of us and only 1 small salsa for all of us). He brings the salsa and says if we are ready. I really wanted to be like "dude chill let me have some chips and salsa first." Not sure why he was in a rush because the place was not packed. They were over staffed. There were like 5 of them just walking around and around just hanging out at the bar waiting for people to come. I felt acqward being near the bar because they are all staring at you. We ordered the pitcher margarita and asked for easy ice. The damn pitcher was full of ice and our glasses too. I asked what the el maya salsa is and he's like it's the same as red salsa. So i then asked him if they are they same why are the called different names on the different dishes. For the prices they charge you'd think this place was a five star quality. Glad places in Chicago don't try to rip you off like this. My enchiladas were...

El Rancho is to mexican food as Trump is to being a president. The creme de la creme. I have tried literally every dish at this fine establishment (except 3)... im not a daiquiri fan so i didnt try their 3 daqs. Here is my top 15 Mexican places in the greater holland area.

  1. El rancho - Not even close
  2. Taco Bell - That cheesy gordita sauce is a1!
  3. El Matador - this place takes the bull by the horns!
  4. the fat burrito - not being open on sundays prevents this from being #2
  5. taqueria azteca - waitress staff here is as friendly as the food is deeeelish! 6)el huarache - wheeeewwwweeey. cannn doooo
  6. don maguelito - the staff here is amazing and the food is above average.
  7. mi favorita grocery - great place to buy your own great food and make it. i love the jarritos soda! 9)el paraiso - as good as the movie 10)sams pizza - makes a fine, fine taco pizza! 11)on the border - decent chain, holland location is ok 12)golden corral - has some nice mexican dishes. 13)tinas burritos - in your local grocery freezer section. for the price. cant beat it 14)taco fiesta - nice people but the food is sub par. 15)tacos el cunado...

My boyfriend and I ordered online. When we arrived, they didn't have our order. After being questioned on if we ordered to the correct location and showing our receipt, they made our order. We received our order about 15 to 20 minutes later. However, they didn't make the order correctly. I requested no tomato and no sour cream because of dietary reasons. Imagine my frustration upon looking at the order and discovering that they put tomatos and sour cream on my tacos! We didn't have time to go back and have to wait for them to re-make it. So almost $45 on tacos was spent. I couldn't have mine as it was drenched in so much sour cream it couldn't be scrapped off. My boyfriends tacos (which was shrimp) had beef in it and were not that great. I have no intent on ever returning to this restaurant as it is obvious they do not check the orders before they go out. Food is not inconsistent, it is just plain incorrect!
