I brought my dad here while he was visiting from out of town. Now, to give some context—my dad is a bona fide pizza snob of Chicago deep dish. He’s the kind of guy who folds his arms, raises an eyebrow, and says “we’ll see” anytime a menu claims to have a “Chicago deep dish special.”
Well, we saw. And let me tell you: it wasn’t just good—it was unbelievable. My dad, who has spent the last few decades critiquing crusts and arguing about sauce-to-cheese ratios, took one bite and admitted this was one of the best deep dishes he’s ever had. Coming from him, that’s basically the pizza equivalent of a Michelin star.
The crust? Buttery, golden, and sturdy enough to hold its own … and the cheese you ask? Pulled like a slow-motion mozzarella commercial. The sauce? Bold, rich, and perfectly seasoned—not just a topping, but an experience. We couldn’t stop talking about it as we sunk our teeth deep into this pie.
If you’re looking for authentic deep dish outside of Chicago, this is it. If you’re from Chicago, prepare to question your life choices. And if you’re my dad, well… apparently you’ll finally stop talking about Lou Malnati’s long enough to ask for a...
Read moreAfter going gluten free I had written off ever having deep dish pizza again. Heck, even Giardano's doesn't have it!
But Crust 54 does and it's delicious! I went for the first time tonight, and their GF deep dish is amazing. I didn't miss the regular stuff one bit. Their crust is that good, and I confirmed with staff that it's a house designed, house made crust.
I also had the chicken wings. I was bit afraid because theirs come dry, and I usually prefer a wet version. However, they were delicious. I'd probably recommend to the chef to add an option for a wet version or at least a dipping sauce, but I'd also recommend to anyone to give them a try as they are.
Lastly the staff were great. I'm afraid I don't remember their names, but we were there the night of 2/25/2020 around 7pm (the S. Washington location). The young lady at the counter was attentive, friendly and gladly answered all our questions about the GF crust, delivery options, etc. The pizza chef even came out for a bit as well.

Read moreFirst time here and very disappointed. Our service was terrible, the girl who was working the counter came over about 15 minutes after we sat down and asked us what we ordered because she forgot. We ordered 2 appetizers and pizzas. All of our appetizers came out with our pizza. We had 1 pizza come out, then 1 appetizer + pizza, then I had to ask about the other appetizers which came out about 5 minutes later with the last pizza. We ordered the Buffalo chicken wings off the menu and they came out plain. We asked the girl at the counter where the buffalo sauce was after a couple minutes and she says “oh we don’t have any” ... it was the most unprofessional and terrible service I’ve ever experienced in a restaurant. We drove 40 minutes to try this place and I don’t think we will be back...
