Captain Sundae — Restaurant in Holland

We were on our way into town after a long drive and happened upon this location. Captain Sundae is a place that we make a point of visiting once a day every time we visit, but we’d never known about this location. Is it new??

Well, we made the stop! Same great menu they offer at the other locations as far as I can tell. I always get the PB Shipwreck while my husband gets Tommy Turtle. But this time I switched it up just a little! I’d never tried their hard scooped ice cream, but I noticed they had a Puppy Chow flavor. So I just had to ask for a sample! And I loved it, go figure. So I got the PB Shipwreck but with this ice cream instead of soft serve. Talk about amazing flavors!! All the peanut butter and chocolate you could want with a little added crunch from the Chex cereal. I will say that this ice cream is quite firm and takes a while to melt. So if you enjoy soft ice cream like me, you need to be patient. Lol

Last 2 visits there have been disappointing. Service by 1 lady there has been very poor & serving sizes much smaller when I end up with her serving us. When asked about why she made them so much smaller, age said if we have been getting more then we have been getting treated. Did not care for her attitude at all, asking with her standing there to watch if I left a tip (which I did) before she started preparing our order. I've not had to deal with this individual before. But unfortunately, I have had to the past 2 times. Highly doubting we will...

Finally visited the fabled captain sundae with the whole extended family. I was prepared to not eat anything because of my dairy allergy but was pleasantly surprised to learn they had several vegan options. I got a vanilla bean cone and really liked it - good portion even for a small, and it tasted great. The only complaint I could have is that they were obviously understaffed. One girl took everyone's order and slowly made every single treat by herself, which is unfair to both the employee and the customers. Hopefully this isn't the norm! I'll...
