From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and a friendly atmosphere. The star of the show, of course, were their mouthwatering smash burgers, and boy, did they deliver!

Average food and slow service in a nice space in downtown Holly Springs.

This area doesn't have many good restaurants yet, so we were excited to try Smashed, which looked pretty nice and had good reviews.

We were seated quickly by a friendly manager who we told it was our first visit. He explained he was also waiting tables. The room was clean and well decorated, and it was comfortable even though it was busy. Drinks came out somewhat slowly (~15 min., $3 ea) and we waited 10 minutes longer to order food - 4 Classics with fries/tots (4x $13 ea.). We noticed many other tables were getting served, but for some reason we weren't. Our manager/server started avoiding us after telling us our "food was coming right up." After 45 minutes since arriving, we asked another server to check on our meal but luckily it arrived just then.

The burgers were presented well and our orders were correct, but the patties were oversalted and the fries were pretty standard. Our server stayed away, not checking to see if everything was alright until we were almost done. I asked for the check, which took another 15 minutes to come out. The manager said he was "rusty," but didn't apologize for the slow service. While we didn't make a stink, it was clear that things didn't go as planned. More attention, some sort of free app or dessert, or a discount would have helped us understand that was not their intended level of quality or service. We paid $67 + a smallish tip and left.

Update April 2025: 5 Star Review is holding strong! We've been here 4 other times since my last review and each time it's gotten better. Now, Alan is helping build his new restaurant The Riverside- seems to be known for fantastic pizza that will give New Jersey a reunion for it's money. Can't wait to try it! Anyway, we always sit at the bar and there are 2 newer ladies who are rocking out the drinks: Melissa and Brinna (sorry if I spelled your name wrong hon!). Whenever we want burger and great fries, we just drive 20 minutes and come here. We know it will be great, so why go anywhere else? The new ladies aim to please with their drink making skills and never miss the mark! This time I got the Pretzel Bites and Hush Puppies with cinnamon butter- WHOA. The hush puppies taste like they just came from a fair! For lunch, I got the Mushroom and Swiss burger -wonderful! We're always impressed!

December 2024: Husband told me the FRIES ARE AMAZING, but burger was meh. We came here for fries. We sat at the bar. The server that helped us actually turned out to be the GM. I told him "my husband said burgers are meh, can I have chicken tenders?" The GM said "pick out a burger, and I'll still bring you the tenders. AND THE MAC AND CHEESE- OMG!!!!"
