China Wok — Restaurant in Hollywood

I placed an order for general Taos chicken, something quite pedestrian on most Asian menus. I thought to myself this is a staple of Asian cuisine in this country; something that most assuredly would be prepared correctly. I couldn't have been more wrong, well actually I have been but that's another story. In this case in particular the chicken was cold & hard; (inedible) with the seasoning of something between catsup not ketchup & pancake syrup. The best way to describe the texture is, well imagine if you deep fried a granola bar coated quinoa & bread crumbs. (That face you just made is the face my spirit animal made right before it died inside me) Needless to say I will not recommend or order from this place again. Furthermore if I could give them a negative asteroid rating I would. Yes asteroid because stars are of something of use in the galaxy & even from a far resemble something beautiful. My horrid meal, like my spirit animal inside me is dead; unsustainable cold & hard like an asteroid hurdling uselessly through space so does China Woks general Taos chicken...

The customer service here is really great, the food is spectacular. Only issue I have is that they do not seem to pay attention to the minor/important details. I ordered through their online portal for pickup and I chose white rice to go with my meat and they did not realize it and gave me pork fried rice instead. Now it would not have been as big as an issue if I ate pork but I do not eat pork whatsoever so now if I decide to eat the food, I can only enjoy the meat unfortunately. Which is upsetting because I was really looking forward to the whole meal and not just the meat. I'm not saying that the restaurant is bad or anything but they have to work on noticing the minor/important details on their orders :( But food quality and customer service wise I would eat here again and again, hoping that they do not give me pork fried rice instead of white rice again but next time I'll double check my food before leaving the property. Which is what I suggest to all customers going forward, just double check your order and make sure they got everything right before leaving...

--- Updated Review --- I'm sorry to say but this place started strong and has gone down hill the last year or so. Not only did they raise prices and lowered amount of meat per portions, but I feel cheated out at this point and will not be coming back only because I'm not getting any value for any payment because they don't serve what they promise.

The Special Fried Rice delivered last night ONLY had chicken and shrimp. I even got excited if I find an onion - only because there wasn't any vegetables either. If you can't prep it right, don't open your doors and just shut down. This is sad because the food is prepped well, but at this point they are trying to milk their customers - but that will not work when your special lacks the spec___ in it.

So sad.

--- From 2016 (when they first opened) --- Not the greatest, but probably the best in the area. Freshly prepped with clean kitchen and owner that cares about customer service. My choice for local Chinese takeout and delivery. Fresh...
