I'm sorry to say that this otherwise very cool restaurant provided my mother and I the most horrendous service imaginable this Mother's Day. When our waitress brought out our food, my mother simply thanked the waitress, who blankly looked at my mom, and walked away without saying anything. It wasn't as if she didn't hear my mother, but rather this waitress seemed too entitled to respond. I repeated the gratitude, and she once again ignored it. We were not provided any utensils, so I went in to get forks knives and straws. When I saw the waitress, I simply mentioned to her "You know, when someone says 'thank you' its customary to respond 'you're welcome'. She then claimed to not speak English. I figured she was Israeli, so I again said "When someone says 'todah' its customary to respond 'bevakasha'. I then proceeded to go back outside and finish my meal with my mother. A few minutes later, the waitress' shift was over, and she came to our table, interrupted our conversation, and proceeded to tell me that what I did was "not nice". Interestingly, now she spoke English. I asked to speak to her manager, and she refused and proceeded to leave for the day. The staff that remained did the best they could to remedy the situation including apologizing on her behalf, providing us a complimentary dessert, and gave us the owner's phone number. I spoke to him later about the incident, and while I appreciate him taking my call, I feel he did not do enough. The waitress' behavior was so out of line she should be calling my mother to apologize for being ridiculously rude. In most restaurants I think its safe to say she would be out of a job. The food was great, the vibe is very cool as well, and most of the staff there is amazing, but I can't walk away from this incident without leaving a negative review as staying quiet about treatment like this just perpetuates more...
