The Tipsy Boar — Restaurant in Hollywood

My wife and I had a wonderful dinner here last night! Our server Flo was absolutely perfect. She gave spot on recommendations, all of which we loved! She recommended the Goat Cheese Croquettes and they were fantastic! Perfectly fried, with a great blend of savory and sweet! We also tried the Pork Tostones upon her recommendation and they were amazing as well. The flavor was perfect, only minor thing was the tostones could have been a little crispier, but still amazing. We had the Bacon Wrapped Dates as well and they were really good.

I'm a sucker for wings, so I had to try theirs. Again Flo came through with the rec! She suggested and we complied with trying all their flavors. We ordered 4 (half the order) with caramelized onions and the other half buffalo style. The buffalo was our favorite, but the onion ones were really good because they're super crispy since they're unsauced. We got a side of the Asian style sauce and it was good, but not as good as the other two. We also tried their blue cheese and ranch dressings and both tasted really great.

That's all the food we had and everything definitely impressed us! Can't wait to come back to try their pizza and some other entrees.

We initially planned on having some drinks, but we switched gears once we saw their wine prices! They have amazing wine for really great prices. The owner, Jose, even stopped by because he knew we were wine lovers! Next time we have to come with more people so we can have wine AND drinks!

Great good, attentive staff, awesome atmosphere and location make this a perfect go to place for any kind of night out. We will definitely be back! Thanks to Flo, Jose and the amazing kitchen staff for delivering big time on a date night for these parents of a small child!

Tipsy has good beer selection and excellent food. Sad because the kitchen closes early now. Restaurant was clean and there's a good amount of outdoor seating.

After visiting Tipsy Boar last night with two friends, I had to dock the restaurant one star from the original review. They do have outdoor seating and my temperature was checked before getting seated by the hostess. I noticed hand-sanitizer inside and staff wearing masks.

Downside: It took 15 minutes for a server to come take our drink order, then waited another 10 minutes for the drinks to arrive (two beers and an espresso martini). We were planning to order some food, but were told the kitchen has been closing before 10, so late night bites are still out because of the pandemic. However, we got there shortly after 8 and it seemed premature to rush an order for a kitchen that is officially still open until 10 pm. It appeared the wait staff were completely overwhelmed and unable to properly attend to the tables. Our server was especially frazzled. If I had to guess, I'd say it was either his first day or he is in the wrong line of work. He never introduced himself by name and also did not appear to want to be there. If this were my first visit to Tipsy Boar, I would not return. It was not an especially busy Saturday evening. Management either needs to invest in consistent training protocol or hire more/different staff. The restaurant has gone downhill since re-opening.

Came in last week for dinner and settled on ordering the “all American burger” For context, I’m 58 & have had burgers my whole life, never would do a review on such a staple we all feel we can do better at home or where very few make it memorable! But let me be crystal clear this was so damn good I’d been craving it the past few days, so here I am again today. Worried my great burger was a one off, but no… This place makes one of THE BEST BURGERs I’ve ever had (2 for 2)! Why you ask? Two things, quality & proportional balance… the bun’s were beyond fresh both times (very important) as were the onions & tomatoes, the 1/2 lb patty was perfect wide so you don’t get one bite all meat & the next all bun & veggies. Cheese, pickle & bar fries all on point! The side of spicy ketchup was with fresh jalapeños not a hot sauce & you could taste the spice & flavor without that annoying overhang of more vinegar (typical hot sauces mixed with ketchup).

Service both times was well above par, Emily at the bar my first night is as much an asset to the place as anything/anyone else, & while I didn’t get names the second time, I arrived early at 11:44am (don’t open till noon). They explained that clearly but let me sit & I had a drink within 5 mins (b4 noon) & food was out approx by 12:10/15, so perfect!

This is now my go to restaurant bar in all of Hollywood & beyond. Check them out, the menu is more than just burgers, I had some other apps too (for brevity’s sake wont go on) & cocktails are reasonable & not a “cheap” pour. All in all I can’t imagine anyone having anything but a great experience here! Clean dining inside or out with decent prices, great food & exceptional service! My hats off to this well run eatery & they’ve earned more...
