I recently had the pleasure of dining at Akie, a Dominican restaurant that left me utterly impressed. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was greeted with warm hospitality and an inviting atmosphere that set the stage for an unforgettable culinary experience.
The menu boasted a delightful array of authentic Dominican dishes, each prepared with care and precision. Every bite was a symphony of flavors, showcasing the rich and vibrant culinary heritage of the Dominican Republic. From traditional favorites like mofongo and sancocho to mouthwatering seafood dishes and succulent roasted meats, every dish was a masterpiece.
One standout was the mofongo, a dish made from mashed plantains mixed with garlic and pork cracklings, topped with your choice of meat. It was a perfect balance of savory and comforting flavors that left me craving more. The seafood dishes were equally impressive, with fresh ingredients and bold spices that danced on my palate with each bite.
The service was impeccable, with attentive staff who were passionate about sharing their love for Dominican cuisine. They were happy to provide recommendations and ensure that every aspect of my dining experience was nothing short of exceptional.
Overall, my experience at Akie surpassed all expectations. It's not often that you come across a restaurant that not only serves delicious food but also captures the essence of a culture through its culinary creations. If you're looking for an authentic taste of the Dominican Republic, look no further than Akie. It truly is a hidden gem that deserves all the praise...

After a full day soaking up the sun at Dania Beach, we discovered what turned out to be one of the best Dominican restaurants I’ve ever visited. Our group of ten each ordered something different, and not a single dish disappointed. From the masitas de pollo to the shrimp mofongo in salsa criolla, every plate was packed with bold, authentic Caribbean flavor. We also tried the fried pork belly, churrasco al mar, fish al ajillo in a creamy garlic sauce, fried pork bits, steak a la plancha, and the family-sized sampler, which was a feast in itself.
One of the highlights was the special-order breaded steak with rice and beans. It was not even on the menu, but the kitchen graciously made it for us anyway. We also ordered multiple sides of fresh avocado, and they were perfect, creamy, and just what you’d hope for.
Although it is a Dominican restaurant, the flavors easily satisfy any Puerto Rican food cravings. It truly felt like being back in the Caribbean. The service was just as memorable as the food. The lovely older woman from the kitchen came out to greet us after our meal, and we ended up talking about her time in both Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. It was a warm and personal touch that made the experience even more special.
If you’re near Dania Beach, this is a spot you should not miss. Generous portions, home-cooked taste, and a welcoming atmosphere make it the perfect place to unwind after a sunny day. Highly...
Read moreOmg!!! What can I say about this place.. Absolutely amazing!!! I googled food places near me and I decided to take my daughter to a new place to try different food. This place is literally 4 min away from me. Very cozy with an authentic Dominican feel to it. Luz greeted us with a big smile. She wasn't fluent in English but communicated very well with the little she did know. She was very pleasant and nice. Very hospitable. I went for the Monfongo because it looked so appealing on the photos.. but ended up opting for the Oxtail since it was a Saturday option. The presentation of the lil pot that the rice came in, the wooden board that the food was served on, the tin cup for the fresh handmade passion fruit juice was all aesthetically pleasing. My daughter got the chicken Alfredo with a Dominican soda to wash it down. Just wow!!! Everything was so good. I even told Luz I didn't eat beans but since I was paying for them, as they were apart of the meal, I told her to bring them anyway. I tried them with the rice and let's just say, there was no beans left 😂 I'm so happy I chose this place. I wanted to go walking on the beach afterwards but I was too full and fulfilled lol.. Oh we had the Dominican cake too. That was our first time ever having that. Soooo scrumptious and moist. My palette was VERY pleased. I've passed this place 1000 times without ever noticing it until I Googled.. but we will definitely...
