Takeaway: For $33, there are much better escape rooms in South a Florida. Avoid this unless you get a decent deal. Customer service was pretty bad as well. We were stuck in the room for about 10 minutes after completing the room because the employee was on the phone and hadn’t noticed we had completed the room.
I’ve done a good amount of escape rooms, from the great to the really bad and this one falls somewhere in between, leaning more toward the bad. The puzzles had little to no flow, the set design was a little on the cheesy side (though the effort was appreciated) and the customer service was pretty bad.
We tried the haunted pirate ship escape room. The flow was irregular and badly paced. You’d be started with a fairly difficult riddle/puzzle only to be followed with 2-3 painfully obvious puzzles and then they’d drop you back into an overly difficult puzzle with really obscure clues. Once the solution to a puzzle was revealed via hint, the solution was always a bit of reach given the clues you had. Most escape rooms at least make you go “ohhh!! Wow, it’s so obvious!” while this one left you asking “wait, really? That’s such a reach!”
Which leads me to my last and most important reason I can’t recommend this place. Customer service was BAD. When we were stuck, we asked for clues to which the reply was always “uhh so where are you guys right now?” Followed by a literal description of what the solution to our current puzzle was, completely ruining any sort of excitement.
We did actually manage to complete the room within the hour and found “the treasure”. At this point, we assumed the game was over and we had escaped only to see that the door had not unlocked and nobody came for us. We spent another 10 minutes looking for a final puzzle to escape only to finally ask for a hint to which the employee replied “oh my bad I was on the phone”.
We awkwardly walked out and then we left, pretty disappointed. I recommend “Fox in a Box” in downtown Miami for a great escape...
Read moreThis was a really unejoyable experience for me and my party and I highly recommend you consider else where. If you want an escape room experience and you are considering this place. Don't.
For starters -They gave us dim flashlights and the whole room was dark, and worse of all both flashlights died before the 10 minute mark. How were we supposed to escape in the dark? I dont believe they wanted us too and it really took away from the experience.
Secondly - there was one hint on the paper that was completely misleading and then the man said we have to figure it out. Speaking of hints the person there seemed annoyed when we asked for help and we would have to repeat or ask for help multiple times before he finally responded. Most of the times we had moved on and he would be trying to help us with a clue we already figure out. Aren't we supposed to be watched so they can know what part we are at? I'm not sure if this was a tactic to stall for time. But I felt like we had to force the associate to help us and it felt horrible to do so.
Thirdly - The asthetic is supposed to be rustic but not the clues too. The clues on the map were not legible! Alot of the clues couldn't be seen due to the dark and due to the place being worn and when we asked for clarification on the clues the associate couldn't be bothered unless we asked 5 times.
Overall communication was bad and the aesthetic was bad. The associate helping us was bad. The experience was bad. Not worth the money and I really wish we never went. If I could rate 0...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting Boxroom Escape Games, and I can confidently say it was one of the best escape room experiences I've ever had! From start to finish, the attention to detail and the immersive atmosphere were outstanding!
What truly set this experience apart, though, was the exceptional service provided by Briona. She was not only professional and friendly but also incredibly knowledgeable, and most importantly, extremely patient with our group! Briona made sure our group had a blast throughout the entire adventure.
The room itself was well-designed and presented a perfect balance of challenge that kept us engaged from the moment we stepped in. The intricate storyline added an extra layer of excitement, making the experience even more memorable.
The Boxroom Escape Games establishment is clean, well-maintained, and has a welcoming ambiance. The staff, especially Briona, goes above and beyond to create a positive and enjoyable experience for every visitor.
Whether you're a seasoned escape room enthusiast or a first-timer, I highly recommend Boxroom Escape Games, and I especially want to commend Briona for making our visit truly exceptional. Can't wait to return for another adventure! Thank you again for such a...
