An honest review:

Disclaimer: This review/rating is based on my experience. I'm trying to be as objective as possible

I visited hot glass with a friend as part of her birthday gift, we are both in our 20's and thought this would be a Covid-19 friendly activity to pass the time.

Firstly, the value. As it was her birthday we decided on the starfish (you can only pick a heart or a starfish if 2 people are sharing the 20-minute "class") which are each $150.

I use the term "class" loosely, as this is rather a demonstration where you will get directions and act as a 3rd hand "Pull this, press this, sit here hold this, etc"

We had Erika as our teacher, she was okay. She did rush the color picking process (jokingly said we had 1 minute, then immediately 30 seconds, then proceeded to pick our third color) but it wasn't a big deal.

It was a late class (8:20pm) and we understand people just want to go home.

There is eye-protection to be worn, it's worth noting we were a little suspicious that they weren't washed after each class, nor was it said to us that they were (they're just clear glasses)

Overall: I'm rating this 2 stars, if I could I would give it a 2.5 since it wasn't a classically "bad" experience. But the value of it all paired with an okay-ish class (I'd rate Erika a 3, she wasn't unpleasant by any means) left a lot of us to desire

At the end of the day it felt like what it was, a novelty place located conveniently in the middle of a park. A glorified tourist trap

If you're a 20-ish year old on a date or want to make it a longer engagement with friends I could suggest a plethora of other places where $150 will go a much longer way. I'm sure a quick google search will pop up many

But if you got money to burn, want something quick and easy (the class is exactly 20 minutes or less), and a cute memento of your night then this is your place

Edit: Although I appreciate the BOGO offer, I'd rather...

My experience at Hollywood Hot Glass was nothing short of amazing! I decided to visit with my cousin who was in town, and we were on the lookout for fun activities to do together. Glass blowing had always intrigued me since my college days, and when we sought vacation planning assistance from ChatGPT, Hot Glass popped up as a suggestion.

I purchased my session through Groupon. My cousin opted not to because she had her heart set on making a Christmas ornament, which was a less expensive item and not part of the Groupon deal. The staff at Hollywood Hot Glass couldn't have been more accommodating with our slightly more complicated reservation.

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and friendliness. The team was incredibly patient as I deliberated over what to create. Eventually, I settled on making a soap dispenser, something practical that I could enjoy in my everyday life.

Our instructor, Allison, was an absolute gem! She not only listened attentively to what my cousin wanted to achieve but also helped me navigate my own indecision in choosing an item and then helped us select the perfect colors. Her enthusiasm and wealth of knowledge made the entire experience even more enjoyable.

We had such a fantastic time that we were already planning to return for another session a few days later. Unfortunately, our plans had to be canceled due to an emergency, but we were contacted and received a refund immediately. This experience has sparked a tradition that we plan to continue every time my cousin visits, and I'm already thinking of inviting other friends who might be interested.

Overall, Hollywood Hot Glass exceeded all my expectations, and I can't recommend them highly enough. The friendly staff and expert instructors make for an unforgettable experience. I can't wait to return and create even more beautiful...

Yes, yes, yes!!! Definitely consider visiting if you’re looking for a fun and memorable experience. Hot glass blowing classes are available for all ages. It’s $40 per person to reserve a spot and it’s easy to reschedule (no fee) to suit your schedule. Two people are allowed “on the floor” at a time so I recommend an even numbered group if you want neat live-action photos. Otherwise, there’s elevated seating. The artists are absolute pros and walk you through the entire experience to ensure that you leave with an attractive memento. Their insurance must be insane because you are legitimately in front of a furnace and blowing hot glass! I felt very safe throughout and it was clear to me that the artists were extremely conscious of the hot glass/my safety. I recommend getting there a few minutes early to give yourself time to sign your waiver and select the piece that you’ll make to take home. NOTE, $40 is just the deposit. You’ll pay additional on top of that depending on the design you select (+$20 and up). Some pieces don’t require glass blowing, so if you’re going to blow glass be sure to confirm. Pieces are cooled enough to take home the next day. The studio is also open. I think it is so fun to swing through before dinner on the circle to observe classes at no charge. Highest recommendation!! Fabulous opportunity.

I've seeing sister/friends doing the Hot Glass class and it looked a difficult thing to do, the teacher/professional guides you step by step through the realization of your piece and since it's a "dangerous " handling you have to follow carefully the instructions. Of course your teacher won't let you down 😉 but still I had some doubts about what kind of experience could turn out because I like to experiment getting my hands dirty and this looked like something that you get to enjoy within specific limits...So today was my turn and I could fully enjoy the class. Very cool 🔥experience I have to say 😎 It's almost magical working with the glass. Amazing material, you can see it changing texture throughout the process from small colored crumbs, gluey and plastic and solid but fragile at the end. Thank you Jackie and the team. ....Jackie answered promptly to all my 200 questions and I'm glad she was able to do that even never stopping doing what we had to do to get my piece done I'll post soon the pic of my piece...waiting to pick it up 😁
