I went to try to have a nice dinner with my mom and instead had one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. My mom and I both ended up getting mole enchiladas. As soon as I had my first bite I put the entire plate to the side. It’s was incredibly spicy, sour, and overall just not very tasty. The waitress came, we made a new order, and then the owner came out. He questioned us on why we sent it back, whether we had ever had mole (we’re both Mexican and have had different kinds of mole... so we know how it’s supposed to taste), said that the way he made it was the way it was made ( different states can have different ways of making mole but bad mole is bad mole in any state) and even though both my mom and I had only had ONE bite we had to pay for it. To top it all off, the waitresses had their masks on their chins, no soap in the bathroom, and their agua de Jamaica was also atrocious.

Háganse un favor y no ordenen el mole. O quizás después de tantas micheladas no sientan el sabor amargo de ese mole...

The food was basic. Taquitos were very good. The regular salsa had great flavor not the "special" salsas at the salad bar were flavorless and not impressive. Fajitas were chewy and grisly. Definitely not skirt or flank, more like round steak or lesser. It's not worth the price.

Service was horrible, place was packed and looked like it needed more staff. She forgot to bring tortillas with my food. The service assistant was very good, he did more than the waitress did.... My bill was $40. I asked the waitress to put $15 on cc, and I have her $30 and said to put $25 cash and give me $5 change. She split the bill on cc and did not give me any change. When I asked her, she said sorry and then gave me $5 back. I didn't want to argue, so I left, but she basically stole money.

The atmosphere was OK, but good was inadequate, and I would recommend going...

Overall, I enjoyed the meal. I forgot what I ordered here, but it was pretty good. I think I posted a photo of it. Anyway, there wasn't a wait (we went on a Monday evening) and the staff was very nice. The prices were not too bad and I'd say that it was worth it. One of the interesting things was that the restaurant streamed music videos on this large projector on one of the walls. I really enjoyed it when they streamed the older songs. For example, "La Hielera". This is a different culture from my own but the music was great. I don't think I've dined at many establishments where they stream music videos on a large projector. It's an interesting set-up and I think it fits nicely with the atmosphere. The restaurant itself was very 'cozy' and located in an OK area. All in all, not a bad dining experience and it's a place that I wouldn't mind...

We and our crews have been eating here for 22 years coming in and out of Ft. Lauderdale running yachts and it's always great food and friendly service. The only thing that changes is the size of the muted TV with soccer. Very clean and serves food quickly. I have no idea who rates it poorly for South Western Mexican food except maybe competitors. I always get the savory steak Tampiquena and my wife usually gets the Mambo Combo. Update January 1 2022: 10 stars again! lol I won't add another picture as we always get the same 2 things. This time lunch here was to celebrate successfully sailing a 1,000 miles from the Chesapeake to Ft. Lauderdale leaving in winter gales to deliver another yacht. Well worth the sail, always perfect and friendly service even on the first day of the year.

Friendly place with authentic food and charming servers. First thing I noticed was the presence of authentic Mexicans enjoying their cooking. Started with fried corn tortillas with their version of salsa--tomatoey, thin and watery. My boys ate a burrito and tacos. Stuffed with meat, correctly served with the appropriate tortillas. I had the chicken enchiladas mole, served with yellow rice and runny, thin refried beans. Mole had plenty of chocolate, tons of chiles and topped with sesame seeds. Everything was delicious. They even have my favorite Mexican beer--Negra Modelo. Prices are comfortably low for big portions. The dining room is pretty much undecorated, featuring all of their free beer promotion stuff. Like this place!

What an authentic Mexican restaurant! This is our go-to Mexican restaurant when we travel from Miami to Keys. We’ve tried so many different items for the past few years, and everything is delicious. Chicken taquito appetizer is huge and yummy. Horchata is so authentic. Chapala is our favorite. It’s mixed with shrimp, beef and chicken and covered with cheese. Portion is huge. I always get shrimp and steak fajita and never disappointed. Corn tortilla is great. We tried whole fried red snapper and wow that was amazing! Enchiladas, quesadillas and all other dishes are great. Live music makes me so happy and I feel like I already started a vacation. Highly recommend this local spot.
