We were in the mood for sushi and were happy to find a place in Homestead that 1.) let you order online and 2.) offered delivery! We placed our order online around 6pm and waited about 1/2 hour before deciding we should call the restaurant to make sure they received our order ($31.54) since we never received an email confirmation. We called the restaurant and were told that "something is happening and we aren't delivering tonight." We then asked if we could pick up our order and they said yes, it would be ready in 20 minutes, which would be around 6:50pm. We waited about 10-15 minutes before leaving then drove to the restaurant which allowed another 15 minutes to prepare our order. We got to Sake Thai & Sushi at 7:20 (per our credit card receipt) and paid for our order. I asked why they were not delivering tonight and I was told that their driver moved out of state so there was a "situation" about deliveries. Not sure why they haven't replaced their driver and wasn't offered any additional explanation. I was told to have a seat and that my order would be out in a few minutes. After an additional 1/2 hour after waiting for my food I finally stood up and went to the hostess stand to ask for my money back - the service and long wait was beyond bad at this point and I was ready to go home. From the time I ordered online to this time had been almost 2 hours. I waited for 5 minutes for the hostess to come back (she had been gone for quite a while at this point) and when she did she (finally) had my order. This was my first time ordering from Sake Thai and Sushi Bar and I must say that I definitely won't be back. Why did it take 2 hours to make a Mexicano Roll, Fire Cracker Roll and a bowl of Tom Yum Kai soup? It's sushi... it's not like you actually have to cook it. Why were we never called to let us know the food we ordered online would never be arriving at our door? When we ordered online we should have AT LEAST received a phone call from the restaurant letting us know that they were not delivering... they received our online order and did nothing! When we finally arrived home to eat we were not at all surprised that the food was mediocre at best - not sure which was worse - our ordering experience or the sushi. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else... this is 2 hours plus out of my life, $31.54 and what could have been a good meal that I won't be getting back. Heed my warning and don't make the...
Read moreI've been coming here at least once a year for the last few years. I always leave satisfied. I came here last night and the experience was wonderful! PROTIP: ask for the vegetarian menu. They have amazing options on there that are gluten free and meat free. But all of the options are good anyways and if you really need meat I'm sure you could add it. I had the veggie soup and the presentation was amazing (that bowl is huge) and the soup was delish. In the broth alone, you could taste every vegetable it was cooked with. And the noodles were thick and delicious. The only downside was it was so fresh and piping hot that I couldn't eat it faster! At Sake they make almost everything by hand and fresh; fresh noodles, fresh tapioca balls, fresh sushi, fresh soup! And that is what makes this place taste good. The servers are also kind and attentive. I only have a few critiques of this place: *It's way too small! There's hardly any space in there but I guess it is considered a "bar" But it honestly feels very cramped when you're inside or even eating outside. Secondly, the lighting doesn't help with this. It's very dark inside and the lights will shift between brighter and darker which gives a creepy effect. I'm sure if it were brighter in there it wouldn't feel as cramped. *The menu needs revamping. It's disorganized and has tiny lettering, there's too much going on everywhere it's confusing. And looking at that menu, I actually didn't want anything and almost decided to leave. But then I got the vegetarian menu and it was neat, well organized, and easy to read. So I ordered. Your whole menu should be like that: appealing. *Work environment could be cleaner. I was seated right in front of the kitchen so you guys should really watch how you handle the food and drink items back there. I'll just say some of the things made me look away so I would still have my appetite. But luckily the food was incredible so I was able to eat anyways! Thanks for a great food and hopefully you guys can make these small tweaks for a five...
Read moreI have been a loyal customer of this restaurant since it’s inception. At first glance the restaurant may appear to be another “ small town sushi place” FAR FROM the mainstream corporate environment which offers a “ cookie cutter “ product made to capitalize on profit rather than quality. Well if you make this assumption you are correct! The evolving city of Homestead is slowly morphing into a large metropolis with a small town feel. The infrastructure and demographics is forever changing at a rapid pace.
Sake Thai Sushi incorporates both the changing ainfrastructure and the small town feel into one experience. The restaurant’s decor sets an atmosphere of progressiveness while the service , to include the owners May, Su and Sushi Mama, lend a personalized attention fostering that hometown feeing. Once you have visited Sake Thai Sushi it will not be uncommon for these owners to address you by your first name upon return. I am a sushi lover and have visited other what are considered “ high end sushi restaurants “ and always find myself disappointed with the service, price and quality of their food when compared to Sake Thai Sushi. Sushi was not a typical dish in Thailand until the world war when the Japanese influenced Thailand with their culture and food. Since then Sushi has become synonymous with the Thai culinary experience. The Thai people are a proud race and integrating their unique methods in the culinarily arts provides a cornucopia of taste in the pallet.
Next time your in town, headed for the keys or simply want to experience the quality of true authentic Thai dishes , stop by Thai Sushi say hello to sushi mama and tell them...
