So there's a lot I have to say... This review is for the staff that were working 08/27/21 around 9:45 am. Let me start off by saying I had been craving a bagel for the past 3 days but never came across a place that I could get one. Well this morning I had the time to stop. HBC was the first place that popped up on Maps so I went. I walked in, was greeted by the staff (one of the MOST FRIENDLY AND WELCOMING groups of staff I've dealt with in Alabama) and I was having some trouble with the menu and I was given help. So I placed my order and shortly after I had been informed that they were out of plain bagels. One of the staff members Apologized and suggested the salted bagel. I was a little disappointed but I was just gonna deal with it. I recieved my order in less than 2 minutes. I got back to my work truck and to my surprise the TWO bagels I ordered weren't halved. I got TWO FULL BAGELS. Which I wasn't expecting. I pull out the first bagel (salted bagel with cinnamon sugar spread) and it looked pretty good.... I absolutely made love to that bagel.. I'm good with that but at the 30 min mark we still had no order (2 breakfast bagels and one plain bagel and 1 latte). The people that ordered after us received their order before us. I kindly requested refund and explained it had been nearly 40 minutes since ordering and rationale given was the person that ordered after us may have ordered online. The person that ordered after us clearly ordered at counter and had egg on her bagel. Employee apologized and told me she would refund me. Nearly 40 minutes and no real clear explanation given. The ball was clearly dropped. I cannot in good faith recommend this place. This is unacceptable. FYI. I speak from a customer perspective but also from a experience working in the restaurant industry. Correct response would have been more along the lines: We are extremely sorry. What can I do to make it right? Instead when I requested refund initially, I was told," let me check on your order" and no clear place in que was given as far as my order. Read moreI never do this, but my experience was so horrendous I had to. I placed an online order through their "business preferred" platform Clover at 9:16. I was told 15 minutes. I walk in around 10 minutes after, and it's not ready, no biggie I'm early. As I'm waiting, I watch several people come up, order, and get their food long before I would. Finally at 9:50, I get my food. Their business has coconut water available for online ordering, but they had no idea whay I was talking about so they gave me a water. I ordered two bagels. One turkey melt, one Lox. It took roughly 35 minutes to get my food. On top of that, I get to my car and pull out my melt. And there is a hair in the turkey melt. I understand being busy, and working in the food industry is incredble taxing. I am still a waitress, after all. But seriously? I work incredibly hard at my job to make sure every single guest has a great experience, and I would like to assume other businesses do as well. But they seriously dropped the ball.
