The Battery — Restaurant in Homewood

This past Saturday, I treated myself to a me date a day dedicated entirely to myself. After indulging in a relaxing one-hour massage, I found myself absolutely starving. Wanting to try something new, I continued my exploration of Homewood’s restaurant scene and landed on The Battery.

I met my aunt there for lunch, and as soon as we arrived, I knew we were in for a treat. The place was packed inside and out which is usually a great sign. After about a 15 minute wait, we were seated.

The interior had a modern, inviting atmosphere, and the service was excellent. Our waiter was incredibly kind, answered all of my questions, and I never once had to ask for a refill. Despite the restaurant being full, the service was impressively quick, and every dish arrived hot.

Appetizers

Buffalo Wings – The wings were well-sauced and smoked to perfection, with the meat falling off the bone effortlessly. However, the biggest letdown was the lack of seasoning. While the smoky flavor was great, the wings themselves needed more depth. 7.9/10 (With proper seasoning, this would easily be in the high 8s or even a 9).

Queso & Chips – The chips were fresh, crunchy, and unseasoned but still did the job. The queso had potential, but it lacked the bold flavors needed to truly stand out. It wasn’t bad, but it could have been much better. 6/10

Entrées & Sides

Wedge Salad – The salad itself was solid, but the bacon was a miss. It had an overpowering liquid smoke taste, leaving a strange aftertaste and smell. 7/10

Fries – These were outstanding hot, crispy, and well-seasoned. I also appreciated the variety of cuts and shapes. 8.5/10

Smash Burger – A well-executed smash burger with that signature crispy edge and juicy interior. However, the meat itself wasn’t seasoned, which held it back from being exceptional. 8/10

Final Thoughts

Overall, The Battery was a great experience, and I’d happily return. The biggest downside was the lack of seasoning across multiple dishes. If they improved that, their food would easily score even higher. That said, I still highly recommend trying this place.

Recently checked out this restaurant I’ve been contemplating on for some time but finally said why the hell not .🫢 The atmosphere gives you sporty but sleek bar vibes . Let’s cut this introduction short starting off the star ⭐️ of the show was the Short Rib Poutine. Boyyyy ohh man 😳this appetizer did not fail. I ordered two more after the first that’s how bomb it was. I mean it really was out of this world (former big back speaking I think to top it off I just needed Hawaiian roll lol). I also ordered the Homewood Honey cocktail/ Hot Girl Gimlet it was a watered down but still good. For the entrees me and my guests ordered a variety of things from the menu. We ordered the Short Rib Poutine, Chicken Philly, Pesto Chicken Pasta, Korean tacos (brisket), the Seasonal Bread Pudding (Apple), and lastly the Cookies and Icecream. To make this review short, the Hot girl gimlet tasted like spicy dish soap. The Bread pudding wasn’t bad but it was so stiff you would have thought you were eating some old play-doh with apples soaked in sprite, the trio cookie with ice cream tasted like the Christmas out the can 🤣 that’s all folks...

I meant to speak to the manager about our server Logan. My friend has a food allergy and she alerted logan. He went and checked with the kitchen and came back and told my friend what she would be safe with and what to stay away from. He was so attentive and made sure everything came out perfect. All in all Logan was great!

Now on to the food...... I had the Short Ribs Poutine, The Smash Burger and the Salmon Caesar. Let me start with the Short Ribs Poutine, who ever made those snapped! The Short Ribs are braised in Cabernet which made the Short Ribs so flavorful. Really good definitely recommend trying! 10/10

The Smash Burger with Parm-fries, my friend enjoyed this dish. She said the burger was juciy and the parm-fries we're really good.

The Salmon Caesar, okay I love a salmon caesar salad its my go to. This one didn't disappoint. Got my salmon blackened and cooked medium, it was cooked perfectly absolutely loved it. I wasn't the biggest fan of the dressing but it wasn't bad at all.
