Oak Hill Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Homewood

Oak Hill is definitely a neighborhood bar, but more than a franchise.

I had a burger. My wife had the BBQ Chicken with the white sauce. Mashed potatoes and veggie kabob. They have some local beers that make this place just a step above the chains. Burger was cooked well, tomatoes and lettuce were fresh and unblemished. They brought me the hot sauce of my choice. Food was fantastic in that it was cooked and prepared well and came out in a very timely manner.

Decor was standard pub. TV selection could have been a little better although the room was open, air was clean, and tables were high.

Service was great. Waitress kept our drinks topped off and wasn't pushy. Trivia on Tuesday nights and not in the "dear God that is loud and annoying kind of way" but fun.

I'd recommend, as long as you know it is pub/bar fare. Better than On Tap,...

I so wanted this local B&G to be good. I sat at the bar and ordered the Philly Steak Salad topped with grilled strips of rib eye steak, mushrooms, onions and bell peppers, covered with melted cheese. I told the bartender, who never told me her name, I wanted blue cheese. What did I get? A hot mess. "Strips of Rib Eye Steak" were burnt scraps of meat that looked like over cooked scrapple. Served with melted Parmesan, cold Sargent shredded cheddar cheese and a side of Blue Cheese dressing. The lettuce was right out of a Sam's Club bag. My Bartender, the younger red head was on the phone with the owner explaining why a previous customer threw his money on the bar and walked out, then called the owner. I can tell you why he left. I do not think we will be back here. We came on a Saturday for lunch. We did not get great service. We waited a lot. Also, the main food was not great.

Chicken Tenders: The breading was very unusual. I would. I would best describe it as rubbery. The chicken was juicy but very salty.
