Otoro Hibachi — Restaurant in Homewood

Literally having to write this review before i eat because it’s sooooo good! I had Otoro Hibachi in Hoover once before and it wasn’t very memorable. This location, however, is doing everything right! My boyfriend and I dined in this last sunday and everything was amazing. The calamari was light and crispy, not rubbery and overcooked, breading was seasoned just right. Our crab rangoons had so much filling, they were delightful. Our chicken and steak bento boxes had great portions. The lady at the register was very pleasant. I was so pleased with the food and service, i decided to order on uber eats to see if i would receive the same quality. This time i ordered the same things, plus noodles for my toddler, as well. I am happy to say this meal is just as amazing. I received my extra sauces and my special request for “no edamame, extra veggies” on my bento box was honored. I am so glad this place has come to Homewood! If I could give this place 0 stars I would. First of all I understand multitasking because I do it everyday at work. The employee was extremely rude the whole time I dealt with her. Going back and forth about what I ordered. Then when she stated she would have to give me a refund and ring everything over she walked off from the register and proceeded to “multitask” telling me everything she had to do mind you I’m on my lunch break from work. She then refunded but left off the dollar they charge extra for using their machine. Excuse me ma’am if I am not pleased with your services or food I deserve a full refund. I arrived at 6:05 pm to pick up my mobile order. The front desk staff didn't greet me, as she was engaged on a work phone call. She seemed inexperienced and had to ask for assistance from the back. When she finally finished the call, she asked about my order, and I received my food quickly. Although the service was subpar, the food was excellent - well-seasoned and flavorful.
