Last night, we brought 3 guests from NC, wanting to impress them with the outstanding view and good food. The main problem was our waiter. I hope that someone from the staff will take notice, and give her a little help. After she cleaned up the cup of dressing she spilled on the table, she boasted she had 14 years of experience and that never happened before. My guests treated her with respect and kindness, throughout the meal, but here is what happened as follows: 1. after telling us the seafood specials for the day, my guest asked her, what she recommended. Her response was, she doesn't know because she doesn't eat the food there. 2. after she took the order for our appetizers, she announced that she had been called to a meeting. We were confused at what that meant in terms of our service and we didn't know what to expect or why she told us. 3) She leaned over my food, spoke over it, and brushed her hand on my straw. this was very unappetizing for me. 4) We asked for straws, and she didn't bring enough for everyone at the table. The container requested to take uneaten food home was DIRTY!!! Yikes! That should have been addressed with some form of apology (things do happen) but the container was simply picked up and replaced. 5) Our guest is a nurse, and commented that our waitress seemed to be under the influence. I can only concur that her behavior was flighty, and unprofessional. In all fairness, we want to give it another try. It is a beautiful place, and the menu is great. We won't let one super bad experience keep us from trying again. Hopefully the next review will be super great. The Elks Lodge does a lot of good deeds for...
Read moreMy 89 year old mom has been going to the Elks Club in Honolulu for years. Her visit this year was brought to an abrupt stop when they told her she was not allowed to bring her travel companions in, only a caregiver. This was not the case in years past and the male manager seemed to think because he was following the rules, he was doing the right thing. I tried to explain this group of 89, 90, 87, and 86 year olds were really looking forward to having a meal at their favorite spot at the Elks. In fact, they almost didn’t make it because the 90 year old was hospitalized three weeks prior to leaving. They have been looking forward to this trip for a long time. Yes rules are a guideline but when you look at the human story behind this experience, it would be quite easy to understand, show some compassion, and let the folks enjoy a dining treat. Instead they were discarded as unimportant, old people who were not provided the respect they deserved. The manager’s response was rude and dismissive. I said between the four of them, they have been on this earth for almost 400 years, show some respect. This will most likely be the last time they are able to travel to Hawaii. So please know the view at the Elks Club in Honolulu may be spectacular but human compassion and understanding does not exist and communication...
Read moreA membership club with a great mission. It is one of the best deals on Waikiki Beach. Recently renovated, it was a great place to have a large event in the ballroom. Facilities and food and beverage options add to the overall ambiance and value. Good job, Elks 616.
4/22/21 Stephanie / bartender always always rocks it! Thanks, Stephanie, for consistent, great service!
7/31/21 Staffing has changed somewhat, and in the past three visits, I've found it pretty hard getting consistent service on the bar. I understand the setbacks with labor but they're miss the very simple things of keeping water glasses filled, asking to replenish drinks when there's about a 1/4 drinks left and not waiting until even the ice is gone, and a fee other things. Tried to give the benefit of the doubt but the combined reasons for a 3 star.
11/2022 Reagan, bartender, was a nice change of pace.
5/2023 Surrendered my membership last year. Could not take the old boy politics and policies that affected the operations. It's still a nice place with very old ways and thinking. There seems to be a core of people that want to keep this place the status quo and don't like 21st-century thinking. Too bad as it has affected new members and tye...
