I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Diamond Head Bed and Breakfast for a span of five days, and it truly was an experience to cherish. Having been closed due to the pandemic, the B&B has made a glorious comeback, maintaining its charm and hospitality.
What stood out the most during my stay was the genuine warmth of our host, Brooke. Not only was she welcoming, but our conversations with her were a treasure trove of information and insights. Brooke regaled us with the history of the house, offered recommendations on must-visit places, provided local advice, and shared up-to-date information about the region. It's rare to come across such enlightening and engaging interactions, making our stay all the more special.
Every morning, we were greeted with a scrumptious and authentic Hawaiian & American breakfast that was fit for royalty. The variety and quality of the dishes laid out before us was truly commendable.
Staying at the Makai Suite was a dream. The gentle Hawaiian breezes that wafted through our room were therapeutic, complemented by the delightful serenades of local birds. A particular highlight was the majestic Singapore Plumeria Tree situated right outside our terrace. Its beautiful blooms and the tantalizing aroma, paired with the sight and scent of the star fruit tree, added a touch of nature's magic to our mornings.
For a little added magic, I recommend picking up the fallen Plumeria flowers in the morning and adorning your breakfast table with them. It enhances the beauty of your morning setting and gives you a real feel of the island's charm. Help yourself and enjoy the little details!
It's worth mentioning how this B&B stands in stark contrast to the bustling hotels of Waikiki. If you're looking to immerse yourself in a more authentic, local, and serene Hawaiian experience, then Diamond Head Bed and Breakfast is your haven. Beyond the comfort of the rooms and the gastronomic delights, it's the ambiance of peace, warmth, and nature that sets this place apart.
In conclusion, for those considering a stay in Hawaii, I wholeheartedly recommend the Diamond Head Bed and Breakfast. It's a harmonious blend of luxury and authenticity, where you'll find yourself surrounded by nature's beauty and the island's...
Read moreWe had an amazing stay here. My SO and I really needed some time to sit back and relax, and we thought a proper BNB would be ideal for us to travel with a lightly planned itinerary (We didn't want to plan too tightly so we would have more time to just "chill").
Amazing location; There's free parking in front of the home and just a 7 minute drive into Waikiki and very accessible to the main highway. Very accessible if you rented a car while on the island. We noticed parking at hotels in Waikiki were all $50/day for overnight parking, so we're especially grateful for street parking here.
It's an older home with a very rustic feeling with lots of open space and free flowing air. There is no air conditioning, but it wasn't a problem for our trip in November. Be warned, there may be critters but that seems to be all of Hawaii in our experience.
There's plenty of privacy and places to hang out on the estate. We spent quite a bit of time on the patio with just some take out and snacks. Our patio had candles and mosquito repellent incense which made for some great nights with a view of the city.
Brooke is very knowledgeable on Hawaiian history and ongoing events; gave us plenty of ideas on the best eats and shopping on the island. She treated us like family and helped us make it feel like we were at home. We let her know during breakfast that we would be out and about to the beach and she even stocked us up with beach towels, a cooler and drinks. The convenience and savings you get from staying here is unparalleled.
Will be back here next time...
Read moreI can't say enough about our recent stay at the Diamond Head Bed and Breakfast. At the end of a quiet street, nestled up against the base of Diamond Head, it is minutes from Waikiki but feels a world away, like you are experiencing a piece of old Hawaii. We stayed in the Princess Ruth suite with the oversized king bed, a spacious room, bath and balcony, with windows on 3 sides to take full advantage of the breeze and views. The central patio, with the gorgeous old shade trees, was the perfect place to have lunch or dinner, taken out from one of several good restaurants a short walk away, or just to sit and relax listening to the birds.
Brooke was a gracious and accommodating host. Generous with her time and full of knowledge of the area as can only be obtained from generations of involvement with the local community. Breakfast on the massively long table (which fit the space perfectly!), with its delicious ripe local fruit, eggs and sausage and breads, biscuits or scones, alone would be worthy of a recommendation. In short, we stayed for 4 nights and very highly recommend and can't wait for a...
