Our experience at Fiji Kava in Honolulu was one of the worst we've had in the kava community. My husband and I walked in with years of experience drinking kava and supporting bars across the country, but were met with condescension and gatekeeping from the owner himself.
Despite Waka being listed and offered, he refused to sell it to us, stating he "didn't know us" and "didnât want us talking bad about kava." That kind of reasoning is not only insulting but discriminatoryâand felt deeply personal. As for prices here or there, well there's kava and there's kava. A half-lb is a lot of kava, too. That cheaper kava bought online is often really Meh. And it's $60/lb these days.
As for stores being set up under a parking lot ramp, well, I used to get the best bentos from a little place set up by the tire dept. of Ala...
