What I love about them, is that they are a true Mom and Pop Shop… Everything made to order with Love.
They are located on Lewers on the west side of DFS. They are in a hidden food court where Pineapple County use to be. Ambiance is a typical food court, with small tables and chairs … but they do have A/C so that’s a bonus on these hot days.
Recommended parking is the Ewa back side of the building, there is a municipal lot for only $1.50 an hour. Entrance is from Kuhio on the East end of the Ritz Carlton.
I got to try the Black Miso Tantan Ramen and the “T.B.G” (teriyaki , butter, garlic ) * this was a must try… I think it is my new favorite but that black miso is also super good. And of course I had to get a couple fried items… the fried oysters and karaage and gyoza were fried fresh so they were nice and crispy like they should be 🙌🏻 The Tonkatsu curry was so good, the katsu was fresh and crispy and the curry was packed with flavor, and the perfect size to...
Read moreThis place has "go" in the menu, so I suppose it was a mistake to go in person.
The sign was inaccurate; I guess they're in the process of changing menus? But one physical menu out front listed katsudon at $15; he was confused when I tried to order it and instead seemed to think I wanted the new?replacement? Menu item "sauce don" -- no idea what the difference was. He'd still make the katsudon but then changed the price to $17... $2 more what the physical menu directly in front of him says the price is, listing it as a "custom item".
I asked for a cup of water and I think he failed to understand the request. But that just amplifies how abysmal the atmosphere is in this little restaurant nook. Four different places all charging restaurant prices but no way to get a cup of water for your food without paying ABC store prices?
The dish did at least taste fine. I'm sure if you're ordering delivery its probably fine, but there's no reason to go in...
Read moreI stumbled on this place by accident (one would have to as it's in the very back of the Market), and I ordered the takoyaki, the karaage, and the Miso ramen. I was a little worried when the karaage first came out because it was very dark and I was worried it was overcooked. It was slightly crispier than I usually prefer, but very good. The takoyaki were also excellent - the subtle extra crisp made for a delightful final product. The Miso ramen, however, was delicious! No notes, except for one to myself - don't leave the ramen until last, as the meat on top did cool down quite a bit before I started on the ramen!
Be prepared to fight for seating, and woe betide anyone that wants to bring a...
