This is your standard hole-in-the-wall delicious Chinese food place. There's one like it in many towns. They do a lunch buffet, they do carry-out, they're a Chinese place. If you've been to one, you're familiar with most of them. This one is especially nice because the food is tasty and they often give you a soda or two to go with. Sometimes it's a bit greasy and now and then you find a dish you have to ask them to please make spicier for you, which they do. It tastes like the Chinese food you ate in college, the Chinese food you had that one awful Christmas when everyone had to work, the Chinese food you ordered with the love of your life when you were younger and poorer and all you wanted in the world was their company and perhaps a few bites of what was in the little white folding box. It tastes like nostalgia and comfort and no, it is not grand cuisine, nor is it anything anyone ever drives out of their way to experience. It is simply Chinese food, affordable, comforting, and they do enough vegetarian and non-wheat things you can go there with vegetarians and celiacs. The ceiling may have spots, the menu board may date from the Seventies and the windows make the view of the dilapidated shopping center outside look foggy and dreamlike, like you went to have lunch in a Steely Dan song, but the General Tso's is really good and the wonton soup has the perfect ratio of noodles to broth. I’ve been to all the Chinese restaurants in Hopewell and this is hands down my favorite. I don’t step foot in any other Chinese establishments out here. I order so much takeout my sure the already know it’s me when I call.

I’ve had the lunch buffet on multiple occasions. Some days they are really busy so the food goes fast. This is family owned so not many staff members but they get it done.

The food is almost always fresh. I normally order the same thing. I can never post picture because I start eating the food so fast.

My top favorites are General Tso Chicken, Fried Chicken Wings, Pepper Steak, Egg rolls, and the sweet tea.

Dragon Palace is a senior business in Hopewell, Virginia. They have traditional Chinese dishes.

I use to come to the restaurant. I was a teenager and they were the only place that served Chinese food in that area. It was very good especially to someone that never tasted it. The Palace is a good place to eat.

I am glad to see it's still here. I had to deliver a order one day . Soon as I got there memories started to form.
