Dos Aguas Mexican Grill & Bar — Restaurant in Horn Lake

For over three decades this was my favorite restaurant. It was previously named El Charro, where I shared countless meals and made invaluable memories. After it shut down and later reopened under new management and a new name, I was hopeful it would still feel like the same place.

Unfortunately, every visit since reopening has been marked by the same problem. Wrong orders caused by servers who refuse to write things down. On my most recent visit (earlier today), after the drink order was wrong, I politely asked the server to write down the order. This was for a party of six. They agreed, but when the food came out it was wrong again. When I asked if the order was written down, they claimed it was (lie #1). When I asked to see it, they said they had already torn it up and thrown it away (lie #2).

It’s not unreasonable to expect a server to write down an order. Especially after repeated mistakes. To ask for the bare minimum and still have it ignored is unacceptable.

I never thought I’d say this, but after decades of loyalty, I can no longer recommend this restaurant under its new ownership. Pure incompetence has cost them a longtime customer. I’ll be discouraging others from going through the same frustrating experience.

So above was my initial review. I have been to this restaurant 2-3 times a week since. Today I had one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had. So let's start with about 2 weeks ago. The owner raised the price of my drink to $30. Now mind you, this is not a monster drink. Then today took the cake. I ordered the steak again, which as you can see, I have done before. I ordered it medium. It came out well done. I do not eat well done steaks. So I sent it back. The OWNER then told the bartender to bring the steak back to me and tell me there were NOT anymore steaks. Now, not only do I know there have not been a lot of people in this restaurant. I also know that the EXACT SAME THING was done to my sister ai the SAME restaurant, which I TOLD HER TO COME TO. But I also know that there were plenty of steaks in the back. So you would rather lose your BEST customer, than to correct an error YOUR KITCHEN MADE. The owner has only terrible customer service, but NO INTEGRITY. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT GO! The inside has changed so much! Wide open with banners ready to celebrate all your needs. The food is top-notch. The shredded steak has so much flavor. The combo fajita was sizzling and full of meat and veggies. I learned that the ground beef has onion, peppers, and chili sauce added to it, so I won't try that, unfortunately. I believe the new owners have gone above and beyond to make this place bigger, better, and tastier. The margaritas, they are beyond amazing 👏, well poured 😉.
