Small strip mall pizza restaurant. Good value. BYOB. Some dishes were very good, some were not. Excellent pasta fazool soup. Overcooked pasta. Complementary bruschetta.
The bruschetta toppings had a really good subtle flavor that I can’t grasp. It may have just been from the fresh parsley and red onions combining really well. Overall though, the bruschetta wasn’t very good due to the hard, tasteless tomato pieces, and the bread, which was not good quality and was toasted to crouton consistency. A salad comes with the entrée, but it should have just been skipped. It was airline quality; see picture. Balsamic vinegar dressing did not taste like it contained olive oil.
The roasted vegetable appetizer was wonderful. “Verdura Alla Griglia”. “An assortment of grilled vegetables (eggplant, zucchini, portabello mushrooms, roasted peppers and red onion).” Vegetables were sliced very thin. Roasted just right. Not too much garlic.
We both had pasta dishes, and sadly the pasta was overcooked in both dishes. The tomato sauce here is very good – rich, thick, and flavorful. My dining partner thought the sauce may have been over-salted, as she was very thirsty after our meal. I had the mussels and shrimp over spinach special, served over linguine. This dish could have used more pasta; by the time I finished, there was still a lot of broth remaining in the bowl. The broth had good flavor. I would have appreciated a refill of our bread basket at this point. The shrimp served in this dish were excellent quality and cooked just right. They had a nice sweetness. I would have enjoyed it more if the tails and last shell segments of the shrimp had been removed, since this is not a dish you want to eat with your fingers.
Dessert was a “limoncello flute” – lemonchello gelato swirled with limoncello sauce and whipped cream. It was a lighter desert, and...
Read moreThe food was excellent! The pizza crust was crispy so delicious. The desserts we presented beautifully and were so good. I loved the bruschetta that was given to us when you first come in and are looking at the menu.
If I rated on the food alone it would have been rated far beyond excellent! However, dine in service was horrible. Our waitress was rude and completely disrespectful. Table side manner was awful and we had to wait a while for just water! No one even asked us if we wanted anything beyond water which I had to ask a few times to be refilled. When ordering desert the waitress grabbed the menu out of my hands after ordering. Honestly, I felt as though the waitress taking my orders was annoyed I had my children there too. She was not friendly and very cold toward us all. My check was even dropped in front of me with a short thank you and her rushing off. I noticed other patrons there too that were getting better service than what my family and I received.
I was very pleased with the food; however I was not impressed with the dine in service. Because of the service, I likely won’t be back for dine in again...
Read moreI was excited about this place opening especially since I was a regular for the past 2 ownerships and the past owner had the best pizza. My first visit was a big disappointment to this new ownership. We ordered fried calamari and they were not golden enough or crispy- instead rubbery so they were not deep fried in the hot oil long enough. My husband ordered the pasta pescatore and the sauce was watery at the bottom of his dish so the pasta was not strained and the sauce was lacking in flavor. Just watery sauce and I couldn’t believe a cook would serve it like this. My veal had no flavor at all, it was supposed to be in a white wine sauce but was very bland with no flavor so I didn’t even eat it. Being both Italian it was a big disappointment on the food. We have had much better food at byobs in the area. Don’t think this place will last unless they change the cook. Out of all 3 previous ownerships I think this was the worst dinner . Maybe the cook was in a hurry as people were waiting a long time. Sorry, first impressions are important. Hope it improves, but I’m not wasting my money...
