So, today at about 1:30, I made a call to the restaurant to let them know that they switched orders for a Melanie with mine, which, my name is also Melanie. The last names were clearly different.
The woman who answered the phone seemed rushed and quite frankly rude for someone who works in a service/restaurant industry. I tried to explain that my $17 mozzarella sticks and french fries online order was switched for a $50 (+) order that included two giant sandwiches, a personal pizza and wings. She was adamant that the fault was mine because that was my online order and I am the one who selected said items. She, ādidnāt take the order; the fault is yoursā¦ā she stated. She was unwilling to hear me out.
I would be remiss if I didnāt bring up there was brief mention (by her) of me driving back on my lunch break to return the incorrect order to the restaurant. I was willing to do this (although the order cannot be passed to its original online patron because we strangers opened part of the order and that would be unsanitary)ā¦. UNTIL she said that the fault was on my part because I ordered the wrong thing. Once she said that, I assumed that it was my fault she handed the wrong order to my coworker and that I was stuck with enough food to last me at least 4 days⦠because she did not hear my co-worker ask her THREE times if she was SURE that it was my order.
My coworker thought it was odd that I, as a relatively small Asian female, would order 20 lbs of food for an office lunch. As she doesnāt question my life choices, she left assuming the employee was confident and competent in the odd passing of the obnoxiously large order.
Note to the owner: She also mentioned it was the fault of the cooks for switching the online order numbers with my order, which, for all of us that have worked in the restaurant industry know the cooks did not do. Itās an automated system. So, according to her, it was their fault too, so my fault and theirs for the mix up. Iām not sure how we conspired together, but for sake of argument, a moot issue.
But either way, thank you for the āstellarā customer service and the sampling of your offerings (all at the bargain price of $17).
Might I suggest, and itās only a suggestion, some people cannot handle restaurant high volume rush hours and some people are not meant to deal with customers in general.
To the older blonde lady working the counter, thank you for the mix up. I was originally not feeling the menu options, but my coworkers wanted to order from Verona. Now I have all of this food in my presence. I didnāt want to go grocery shopping this weekend anyway, so you saved me a trip for now.
Finally, I have bartended in many mid to high end restaurants (over 20 years of experience). I have worked many customer service oriented jobs. I have learned that the customer is not always right (unfortunately for Verona, I was though) and also that it is pointless to try and reason with anyone unwilling to listen on both customer and the service provider side.
Food was good. I wonāt write off...

While in town for a business meeting, my colleague from California had one mission: to experience an authentic Philly cheesesteakāor maybe some great pizza. Our local host, a true connoisseur of both, directed us to Pizza Verona in Maple Glen, PA.
Pizza Verona operates primarily as a takeout spot, but with our party of nine, we managed to commandeer about a quarter of the dining area. In hindsight, we might have been better off eating in our hotel lobby, but we werenāt the only ones enjoying our food fresh off the griddle.
Now, letās talk cheesesteak. It arrived quickly, pre-cut for easy sharingābecause nothing brings colleagues closer than collectively hovering over a pile of meat and cheese. The fresh-baked seeded roll was packed with tender, chopped steak and gooey Cooper Sharp, creating the perfect mouthfeel. Some cheesesteaks can be disappointingly blandānot this one. It was rich, flavorful, and exactly what my West Coast friend was hoping for.
On to the pizzas. We ordered a Margherita and a pepperoni, both thin and crispy with just the right amount of cheese. I firmly believe that too much cheese ruins a good pie, and thankfully, Pizza Verona seems to agree. The sauce had a great tang, and the group devoured the pizzas while enthusiastically quoting Dave Portnoy: āOne bite, everyone knows the rulesā and āGreat undercarriage.ā
We also ordered two saladsāa Caesar and The Athenaāboth fresh, crisp, and vibrant. I suspect the dressings were house-made, but Iām not 100% sure (letās just say they didnāt taste like they came from a bottle).
Now, a word of caution: the food was salty. I was thirsty all evening, so if youāre sensitive to salt, you might want to keep that in mindāor just hydrate accordingly.
As for the bill? I graciously let my superiors pick up the tab (as one does), but a quick review of the menu shows that large pizzas run about $24, and most sandwiches are $14, which is pretty standard for the area.
That said, I wish I had taken over the ordering. Given the chance, I would have gone for the Hot Honey Pepperoni and the Grandma Sicilianābecause, letās be honest, those guys are such amateurs.
Final verdict? If I lived near Pizza Verona, Iād be a regular. Maybe not every night (I enjoy having functioning arteries), but definitely...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI usually donāt write reviews, but I felt this one was necessary. After seeing a TikTok video about Verona's Cheesesteaks, I decided to give it a try since it looked amazing and was only a 20-minute drive away. Upon arriving, I had to wait a few minutes because my order was slightly delayed due to how busy they were. During this time, I had the pleasure of meeting Mo Huss, who I believe is a partial owner or manager. He was incredibly personable, friendly, and professional. While we waited, he struck up a casual conversation with me, which made the experience even better. I happened to glance over at their pizza display, and Mo kindly offered me a slice as a gesture of goodwill for the delay. This thoughtful act sparked further conversation, and I noticed how attentive and personable he was with other customers as well. Mo seemed to genuinely connect with patrons, thanking everyone for their business and creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Now, about the foodāletās start with the pizza. The slice I was offered was larger than what most pizzerias serve, and the quality was outstanding. It was hot, fresh out of the brick oven, with a perfectly crispy crust and no significant flop. The authentic brick-oven flavor was unmistakable and made for an excellent experience. Then came the highlight: the cheesesteak. I first heard about it on Instagram via ChaseU and possibly TikTok, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The cheesesteak was exceptional, with generous portions of both meat and cheeseāunlike some other places that skimp on ingredients (looking at you, Steveās Cheesesteaks). The roll was phenomenal, enhancing the overall flavor and taking the cheesesteak to the next level. It was perfectly sized, well-wrapped, and exuded quality in every aspect. Overall, the food at Verona Pizza exceeded my expectations in both quality and quantity. Combined with the excellent customer service and warm hospitality from the staff, especially Mo Huss, this experience was worth the drive. I will absolutely return and recommend Verona...
