Kabuki Maple Glen is a new sushi/poke restaurant located in Maple Glen, PA, in the same plaza as Giant Supermarket. This restaurant adds a quality Japanese option to the Maple Glen intersection "Triangle" of Limekiln/Norristown/Welsh Roads.
For our first visit, we skipped the poke and ordered sushi rolls, plus an a-la-carte eel avocado hand roll.
The bottom line: This restaurant offers a limited range of sushi fish, likely mirroring the poke bowl proteins. What it does offer, however, it does well. The food is made to order. It tastes fresh, looks fresh, and has good portions for the price. And yes, the food is tasty. It's a good casual lunch or dinner spot. With friendly customer service, various perks (i.e. free lunchtime miso soup), and clean, comfortable, well-designed indoor and outdoor seating, I think Kabuki deserves a solid 4.5 to 5 stars.
The longer version: Think of Kabuki as the good deli you like; they don't serve filet mignon, but they do a great pastrami. This is not high-end sushi dining. I didn't see uni and shiro maguro toro on the menu, and there was a shocking lack of micro greens. š¤ But that's ok! I have 2 local sushi faves, so I'm covered.
Instead, Kabuki's menu is centered around popular poke main proteins like salmon, tuna, shrimp, tofu, eel, and krab (imitation crab or crabsticks), and most of the sushi options are various preparations of these (i.e. ebi vs. shrimp tempura; tuna vs. spicy tuna; salmon vs. spicy salmon, etc.). My favorite roll today was the spicy salmon roll, rendered extra yummy by the taste of toasted sesame. I don't know if they fresh-toasted the seeds, but the hint of sesame was dynamite. My favorite, though, was the eel avocado hand roll. It was slightly warm, delicious, and well-priced at $6.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreGood food and a good price! I forgot to take a pic bc the roll was so good. I got the spider roll and it was the best one if compared to the other sushi places in the area. The wait time was short as well abt 5-7 min to make. The price is also worth the big roll as well. It tasted fresh the soft shell crab wasnāt oily and it kept me full. The place is also quite nice, it has a lot of seating inside for both big and small groups. Iāll definitely recommend...
